This was hapening way before selfies and tik tok .... high profile slovakian  footballer  Peter Dubovsky died in one of samuis waterfalls ...not sure if it was precisely that one ...

Quite right. We should be more like the black community and avoid SM like the plague. You never see them acting anything but sensible, do you?

How cum all the members on this forum always praise Thai Healthcare, bus as soon as one of the mates kisses the asphalt, they start begging for money back home.

Lads are lads but this is sad. Be interested to know which insurance company this is. Often things happen to any age group. Motor insurance will cover our mistakes when driving surely. Accidents happen.  It's time these holiday insurance companies are exposed and must surely know if customers  go to Thailand you could face big bills. Something seems not correct with his insurance company.

As soon as possible, move him to a government hospital so you don't have to worry about the expenses. If the Samui government hospital has a foreigner's price have him moved to a mainland government hospital in Surat Thani town. Samui hospitals have 4 levels of prices and the highest are for tourists / foreigners.

Another stupid, another #gofundme case.

That's it 👎

Come on any of us can have an accident. As we age we are more careful but we may slip, fall or stumble. Our senses are less astute, our eyesight less focused, hearing too. Insurance companies need charge more for Thailand visits like US. Sorry that's reality. All age groups too. Would UK hospitals charge so much for our visitors from SE Asia. Are Thai hospitals over charging ? It's time UK authorities and Thai authorities sorted out these huge bills. Holiday insurance is all about things like accidents. Journalists should follow up the Holiday Insurance companies abandoning tourists in LOS

Yeah dude, I got 99 problems, and you are not on the list.  Do you realize how many treats from Issan, BKK and Pattaya are begging for rent money right now?  Better call Starmer for help.

These stories get boring so quickly, headline should read british tourist facing huge medical bill due to being to tight fisted to spend a few quid on travel insurance, astounds me that we keep reading these stories with begging requests for go fund me donations

Feel sorry that he got hurt but he could literally get travel insurance from the supermarkets, with his bank account or online with hundreds of companies

Even if they had insueance Im not sure the company would have paid up, they would call it a DANGEROUS SPORT AND NOT BE PAYING.

There will be a clause in every insurance policy in invisible ink that excludes such accidents. I have never had health insurance or travel insurance because insurance companies will always find a way to avoid paying anything.

If he had insurance, it would be useless anyway. There is probably a clause in every insurance policy in invisible ink that excludes such accidents. I have never had health insurance or travel insurance because insurance companies will always find a way to avoid paying anything.

I think it is families (Typically British) that do the begging, not forum members.

dangerous selfies for a bit of tik tok fame ain't worth it, kids.

I went there a few times and decided it wasn't going to be climbed by me

Very slippery and slimey for a start only fools climb this fall, sorry to say

Tourist authority should put a sign up, no climbing

Don’t be fooled into donating. He is a British soldier so the Army will pick up the bill. They will investigate the accident and if he is found at fault and didn’t take out insurance they will deduct the money from his salary.

No one ever does, it's why we take out adequate insurance.

Another tourist falling, taking selfie on cliff face, story

So the hospital won't release him until his bill is paid so what happens if they can't pay and he dies ?? What is he worth then ? I suppose they could take out his vital organs and sell them and recoup some of the money but it looks like his body is not in good shape.

i pay 9,60 euros per YEAR and insured until 10 Million EUROS with my travel insurence.

if people have no insurence i will donate nothing.

Probably a personal accident policy at that price with minimal cover.

The usual criticism of insurance policies here, most of it completely unfounded in the era of consumer duty.

Today's policies use quite simple language and are set out in an understandable manner in many countries, including UK. And insurers do not deny legitimate claims.

But you get what you pay for. A cheap policy will give less cover than a more expensive one.

Well, it's not about old age people. It's about to be sooo stupid. Every insurance would pay in case of an accident. But here it was avoidable. That's the point. Therefore No Baht to these people because there is a pull effect. Others will rely on GoFundMe only.
