Wise is normally pretty instantaneous but recently I seem to get unnecessary delays. Yesterday  I sent £59 from the UK but today it still says "sending". I sent £12 just a few minutes ago and the recipient got it almost instantaneously. I have sent them a message to ask why. It just seems these days delays are getting more frequent. Fortunately this was small amount of money but I am concerned about what happens if this a large amount of cash? Anybody else experiencing this?

It happens to me all the time. I allow 3 to 5 days for a transfer.

But I sent a smaller amount this morning and the transfer was instantaneous. The transfer I did on Friday is still sending. Wise never used to be like this. They just take the pi55 now.

It's the weekend  & it depends on which bank is involved.  Krungsri is very slow at receiving but Bangkok bank is usually quite fast.

It never happens to me......only once was a transfer delayed until the next ay; the significant majority have been within seconds.

Transfer Sterling to your WISE account then remt to your Thai bank account rom there. Usually arrives in seconds to Kasikorn and Bangkok Bank.

Right just got an update. Might have jumped to gun a bit as it seems this might be an issue at the Thai bank's end. The Thai bank rejected the incoming transfer and returned it to Wise. As of now I have now idea why it was rejected. Two subsequent transfers went through without issue. But I would say this has bot been a one off issue with other week end transfers being delayed over the last few weeks. Was never an issue with several years if use with Wise.

Get her to install the app, it's that easy, don't need to keep money at Wise, can just make a transfer from C$, any reason is OK, living expenses more common. Could send a small amount first to ensure it arrives and account details were correct

yes,  good idea !    thanks

I seem to have an increasingly frequent problem even logging on to my Wise account. On average, 1 in 4 attempts successful. The problem is always trying to get past the 'Captcha' when trying to log on. It won't load in most instances. This is using a small laptop. Have zero issues with any other sites.

Anyone have any ideas what may be causing this? Even when I clear my cache it is still an issue.

An answer from Wise and I have to admit I am a little confused. "we have identified that the bank partner declined the transaction because it was initiated outside of their banking hours."

So does that mean I can only do a transfer to Thailand 9 to 5 Thai time and Monday to Friday and not on public holidays, Never had this problem before in several years of using Wise and I would guess that most of the transfers I have done from the UK were outside of Thai banking hours.

Surely the Thai banking system just hold a transfer over until business hours the next day when they switch their computers on. Extremely surprised Thailand doesn't have its banking computer system going 24 hours a day 7 days a weeks. How do ATMs work outside of banking hours?

Time to change Thai banks. K-bank works good for me.

A little bit more information from Wise "I'd like to clarify the £XX you sent faced a technical issue with the partnering bank after we've reviewed the transfer furthermore. It's been addressed by our relevant team and we are working to resolve such." Looks like some odd technical glitch.

Or maybe not that odd if sending name and receiving name is different.

Same with PayPal amazon payments, stripe, crypto.....there's never an issue until there is.

When I used transferwise 10 years ago it took a week to receive money.

Hmmm With me a few hours, may be a day but never a week. Any way it seems Wise are suggesting that there is some sort of technical glitch as the receiving bank rejected the transfer.

Best to stay calm though, it was only a very small transfer, if it was massive I can understand the anxiety perhaps

Well it wasn't a large amount but you know what Thais are like. It was the end of the World for them and boy was I getting some grief like it was my fault. Having sent them them the messages from Wise they are still staying the Thai bank was not at fault

If you are using "Ad blockers" they can interfere with captchas etc. Try disabling the blockers and see if that helps.

You could also try using a different browser to see if that helps.

I only ever transfer from the UK to Krungsri and at least once per month, sometimes more, it is outside 'normal banking hours'. Since I stopped using the 'funds for long stay' reason around 3 years ago, I'd guess that over 95% of my transfers have been just about  instantaneous and only once was it held up until the next day.

I have noticed one corelation. If there is a delay, even a short one of a few hours, it nearly always ties in with a Thai public holiday. My guess and it is only a guess, is that due to the holiday there is a shortage of funds in the partners coffers and pay-outs are backed up.

Given the number of people who use Wise regularly and the thousands of transfers involved, the number of complaints about their service is very small indeed. I still have absolute faith in them.

Transfer from the UK bank to Wise is quick so not an issue.

Just in case it's not as quick as you expect, a good strategy is to "stage" the funds from the UK bank to WISE balance. Then convert and send to the TH bank when needed.

Little point in doing that, I only keep a balance for the Wise card, maybe if you were getting the interest it makes sense

I do the same, and the point he interest is valid.

I just mentioned that in case transfer speed is a high priority, in which case it would be a valid strategy.
