Chocolate, lollies, confectionary, desserts, ice creams, soft drinks and chips will all be banned from display alongside processed meats, with the measure designed to limit children’s exposure to unhealthy food and drink advertising.

“The policy bans all advertising showing those banned food or drink items. For example, an ad celebrating the anniversary of a children’s charity which depicts a child with a birthday cake would be banned. The Tasting Australia event can no longer show images of charcuterie boards or pastries in their advertising. Under this policy, businesses that have nothing to do with the food or beverage industry will find advertising in South Australia harder,” Faulks said.

I know of at least one country that bans depictions of smoking in movies and television, going so far as to pixilate out cigarettes (but not the smoke).

Strangely, they still allow crime dramas to show head shots with a .38

Won't work. They banned smoking ads. People still smoke.

I think they should promote junk food more. Just tax it more. Have a calorie tax.

My mother gave up smoking years ago. It's too damn expensive.

It is the government's fault for raising taxes on tobacco products, which allows people to buy smuggled tobacco and cigarettes, illegal imports (smuggling) make more money than drugs.

Total Nanny State!

This is part of the reason why I left Australia - my birth country , and the land I love

Thailand feels like Australia was 50 years ago.   By the time Thailand 'catches up' - I will be pushing up daisies - so no problem...

I don't agree with you, but everybody has their own opinion. I lived in LOS, moved back to OZ years ago and can't complain at all.

as we say here - 'up to you'.

All i know is that my life is so much simpler here in Thailand.

(and I don't have to put up with a welcome to country for absolutely everything I want to do - which unsurprisingly made me feel very unwelcome!!)

Well, I can't afford to live in Thailand, try getting health insurance at the age of 78.

Ha, who needs women at the age of 78? I have been married for 22 years now to a Thai woman who is a nurse who makes more money than you ever dream of.

Fair enough.

I am in to quality not quantity.

I have had a fantastic life -  and at 63 , if I turn up my toes tomorrow - no regrets.

I would rather live happily here in LOS than fester to a dull conclusion in Australia.

As Thais says, up to you, I choose what is best for me. My wife makes $ 40 per hour more on weekends or holidays
