** Also looking for good but cheap ribeye

I don't buy ribeye, as I buy larger pieces of beef (Harvey from AU) at Makro, and cut the steaks myself.  Prefer  ~2" thick steaks, which packaged steaks are not.   Usually get a large tenderloin, or sirloin, and cut steaks off that.  Ground the scraps for burger.    When low on Beef Tallow, I'll get a Picanha, and render down all the fat.   Good for cooking all the beef in, as Tenderloin & Sirloin are lean cuts.

Don't want to buy large ribeye, as may be a not so good one, too much fat.   Not that I've seen any on offer.  Need to ask Makro when Harvey stock arrives, as good pieces don't last long.  2-4 kg pieces, so a freezer comes in handy.

Thanks for that. I really like ribeye. NY strip AU always has nasty side of fat. Aussie really should trim that better at least for export.

I need to get down to macro. I've gone once since it opened on Sukhumvit 22. Just had a look. Lots of frozen beef.

Incidentally, there is not only fancy spinach b65 for 150gm, but right next to it I found tops brand 200 g 4 b35. I'm in heaven...

No you haven't.  What you've found is phak kom - a name used for various Amaranthus species.  Spinach is Spinacia oleracea.

Tops brand is only 35b 200g. 👍👍👍

And yet again, this is NOT spinach.  The label clearly says (in Thai) Phak kom.  👎👎👎

Yes, pak kom. Spinach. Belief is a little bit different and it's a little lighter in color. So what.

Oh no...it's not the precise variety of true spinach in States or West... That I can buy a bunch of it for a dollar here in Thailand. What shall I ever do?? 🙄

Can't be eating any of that ..

It's not only "not the precise variety", it's a totally different species.

As for "whatever shall I do", I'd suggest stop posting clueless posts that suggest phak kom is spinach.  It's not.

Watch out, that might be from China 🇨🇳

It is from China, though it's not done me any harm the last ten years or so. Why should it?

Big C and Lotus usually have these frozen spinach balls.

Not very easy to make a salad with those.

Even if they were spinach.

I've found fresh spinach at Top's (Pohan Yotin). Admittedly, I don't normally shop there. It's pricey at b65 a bunch. Anyone know where to find fresh maybe even frozen spinach (not pak boong) in central BKK ?

**Also looking for pickled ginger bulk.

** Also looking for good but cheap ribeye

* Also red wine bulk recommendation.

BTW I'm not near makro but could make a trip.

Thx

Tops occasionally sells fresh Australian spinach leaves, and also Waitrose frozen spinach balls. Also seen spinach leaves in Makro.

I didn't look at any scientific names as Zaphod Priest has mentioned, but the Waitrose frozen was definitely spinach.

Tops def. sells Waitrose spinach. UK grows spinach.

I have the other day seen fresh real spinach at Emporium. I know what spinach in Europe looks like. Same looks & same taste.

I sometimes grow real spinach. Not easy in Thailand. Only cool season and only successful sometimes. needs shade. hard to get the seeds, usually from UK.
