I'm glad I'm not an "urban professional" and don't want "Japanese omakase joints" or "three floors of curated retail".

 

I also definitely don't want to live in a "hipster pocket" so I'll probably just pass on these places .

Outstanding input - the forum is by far better off for knowing what you are not into....

Another facet of where to live in BKK is access to transport. 

 

Some prefer being close to the BTS which adds excellent convenience, but once more than a few hundred meters away becomes a hot and sweaty trek to get there.

 

We find it essential to live with easy access to an expressway as we use the car so much and this helps us circumnavigate traffic. 

 

Asoke is potentially one of the worst places to live if you drive and tend to go places after 4pm .

 

 

Bangkok is expanding rapidly and there are better and better places to live with decent amenities and also access to the centre for those who want it.

The 15 minute city idea comes from

the same maniacs that say you will own nothing and be happy...while eating the bugs...reject and resist

at every opportunity.

One of the best designed cities ?

 

Crappy badly designed western cities wouldn't need to adapt to the 15-minute city thing if they had been built properly to begin with. 

 

Avoiding spending half your day stuck in traffic jams is a great concept.
