This forlorn city would appear to be the crime center of Thailand and the new Dark Tao for foreigners. Yikes. Don't think I ever need to go back.

So if you are not here then it's not really  your concern at all, is it?

I live since decades in Thailand.

It's confusing to see Expats involved in brawls. And why it happens most to Britons?

Obviously for a certain percentage of expats it's not possible to control themselves, to respect other people, and to circumvent harmful situations.

My impression is a lot of low class people recently (last 5 years) flooded in.

How to get them out (or prevent from entering) is the important question. 😱

Nonesense- Racist speculation and generalisation

I thought that until a university lecturer deliberately tried to kill me using his car at 11 in the morning two years back.

What had you done to upset him?

Crime in Pattaya is over reported. Why aren't they reporting corruption etc

Considering the millions and millions of tourists that go through Pattaya every year, there isn't that much crime.

Show me where it's racist or shut up

why is it racists always argue that things they said if did aren't racist - they clearly believe it's OK to be racist.....I expect they justify it by being "high-class"

Pattaya has not got more violent, just better reporting than 20+ years ago

No, I would guess crime has grown along with the town. The reporting goes up and down at the whim of those who control it.... they sometimes get told to tone down the negativity.

Well more confrontations, fight, arguments, beatings etc were either NOT reported before, which I find hard to believe!

There have been significant more reports recently, this year, than before.

The reported rise in crime rates, particularly petty theft and nightlife-related incidents, indicates a potential uptick in danger compared to previous years. Specific 2025 incidents (e.g., stabbings, assaults) and local concerns about enforcement suggest challenges in maintaining safety amid high tourist volumes.

Not just Pattaya, Phuket also!

The British press says the victim has already done time for cracking someones skull, so there is form.

Yes, he was a hardened criminal and no doubt moved to Thailand to carry on his offending.

Would be interesting if it turns out that this is the guy who sent someones 18 year old daughter to Georgia with a suitcase full of drugs.

I think it could go both ways really.

More tourists/ foreigners concentrated in hotspots = more chances for stuff to happen—fights, petty theft, nightlife drama. That’s kind of expected in places like Pattaya and Phuket.

But if people are seeing a real uptick in serious incidents this year (and locals seem to be saying the same), maybe it’s just confirmation bias, but it's  hard to say without stats, but the reports feel more frequent lately.

Also, with everyone filming everything now, stuff gets noticed more—even if it always happened.

Either way, better enforcement wouldn’t hurt.

Yes, but there is way less criminal activity in Hua Hin.

Hua Hin’s population is about 80,000 residents, with an estimated 3,000 to 5,000 expats, and it welcomes about one million tourists per year. Pattaya, on the other hand, is at the center of the Pattaya-Chonburi Metropolitan area, with an estimated one million residents, including 180,000 foreigners, and entertains 10 million tourists annually

Does that explain it?

Why are Brits always getting into trouble?

It is our culture and booze.

We didn’t become the worlds greatest empire ever by being meek.

We don’t aim to fit in, we aim to take over and enforce our rules.
Our DNA.

Thank you for your understanding
