As I stated before the Thai government decision was crazy and has caused all sorts of problems such as this I am not against weed but to make ilegalize it was not a good idea and it should have left things how they were. The ones who want to get it could and good luck to them but not there are shops everywhere and it's open slather.

I'm wondering about the technicalities! If it's not illegal to have several kilograms of marijuana in your possession in Thailand, what will they charge you with if they stop you at the airport? You're still in Thailand! So you're technically not breaking any laws.

The only people that really need to know are the police in Sri Lanka, plus the judge and jury (if they have one) at the trial.

2. She packed her bags the night before and didn't check them before the early morning flight.  Didn't she think they were a bit heavy when she checked out of the hotel?

I was in Sri Lanka in the early 80s.  I was supposed to be there for 3 weeks.  After 5 days I made arrangements to get the heck out of that H-Hole, and I was a tourist staying in nicer hotels.  Good lucky honey.

 

 

 

I beat you staying in Sri Lanka by 10 years (early 1970s).  It was not an H-Hole.  Far from it.  I had a most enjoyable holiday in a "nicer hotel".  Nothing wrong with the place.  Just don't get involved in drug smuggling.

Seems like not much is done at the Thai end to intercept it.  UK seizures at airports for 2024 were highest since records began, 50% coming from Thailand.

"The data suggest that about half of the arrests (184) involved arrivals from Thailand, 75 from Canada and 47 from the U.S."

Flights from Thailand are being targetted heavily for marijuana. There have been many cases now with massive hauls caught - just google it. 

 

So they chose third party countries to stop the UK not thinking the passenger came from Thailand and not a thorough search.
