After days of concern, a Thai durian vendor from Surat Thani, previously reported missing, has surfaced to assure authorities and family of her well-being. The vendor, 43-year-old Sujittra, widely known as Jay Kaew, clarified that her disappearance was a personal decision for a peaceful retreat.

Sujittra was last seen leaving her durian shop on the evening of May 17, departing on her motorcycle with plans to head home—a mere 2 kilometres away. Alarm bells rang when she left behind her mobile phones and took with her 100,000 baht in cash and over 1 million baht in gold jewelry, prompting her family to fear potential foul play.

Mueang Surat Thani Police meticulously reviewed CCTV footage, tracing Sujittra’s route past a police checkpoint near Surat Thani Rajabhat University. The footage revealed she was with a close friend, although further tracking was stalled due to limited camera coverage.

Given these circumstances, the authorities suspected that she had voluntarily chosen to disconnect from her family, without any indication of criminal activity. Her husband, Pongphan Saetan, disclosed that Sujittra had previously disappeared following a marital dispute over his infidelity, suggesting a pattern of seeking solitude after conflicts.

Yesterday, around 3 p.m., Sujittra appeared at the Mueang Surat Thani Police Station, accompanied by relatives from Kanchanadit district, affirming her safety and possession of her belongings. During her visit, she expressed her decision to remain apart from family life, citing personal reasons and a need for a break from her daily routine to recuperate.

Sujittra has communicated her plans to her children, indicating her intent to relocate to focus on her mental and physical health. This incident underscores the importance of respecting personal space and the pressures of balancing personal and family responsibilities. Her family awaits her return when she feels ready.
