(The repeal of cannabis from Thailand's Narcotic Drugs Act) - This change was formalised through a notification by the Ministry of Public Health, which was published in the Royal Thai Government Gazette on 8 February 2022. 
The notification removed cannabis and hemp from Category 5 of the Narcotics Code, effectively legalising the cultivation, sale, and possession of cannabis parts. This policy shift was part of a broader initiative led by then-Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who advocated for the economic and medicinal benefits of cannabis. The decriminalization aimed to reduce prison overcrowding from drug-related offenses and to promote cannabis as a cash crop for rural communities 
Decriminalisation has led to a rapid expansion of cannabis-related businesses, especially in tourist areas, While cannabis was technically decriminalized in June 2022, recreational use became fully legal with the repeal of the Narcotic Drugs Act, according to a source. I have to put up with tobacco smoke in public area, and much more annoying than the smell of ganga.

 

I've yet to smell ganga in a public area.  Not that I go to tourist areas.   If that's where you voluntarily live or visit ... oh well.

Crohn's disease.

Epilepsy and seizures.

Glaucoma.

Multiple sclerosis and muscle spasms.

Posttraumatic stress disorder.

Serious and ongoing pain.

Serious nausea or vomiting caused by cancer treatment

Or any other qualifying symptoms to get the med card.

I think I qualify for stress and pain as I have a Thai girlfriend

While it is early and there are scant details, it may not be as easy as claiming some medical condition. You may be required to have official medical testing and a diagnosis, for which cannabis is the only option.

 

Currently, there are only four conditions for which cannabis is approved, one of which is end-of-life treatment. 

 

The 30-day limit seems unusual given longer-term conditions and treatments.

 

For all we know, they might not allow foreigners to be treated with cannabis.

 

I think we need to see how this change is implemented, via MoPH edict (likely) or legislation, and the final details.

 

This could represent a significant walk-back of the current legalized status of cannabis. I'm somewhat hopeful BJT will do a bit of horse-trading to maintain the current situation.
