Featured Replies

Hello

Heard on 1.03FM Pattaya a few days ago there are or will be free help measures in the airport for handicapped or elderly people to avoid the long walk to the planes. It is said it has to be booked.. anyone knows who to contact ?

Thank you

Have a good Sunday

Do it through your airline and you'll get it at the other end of your journey too.

Look last year I ended up having argument with an elderly man of indian background and when I see elderly same age as me in his 60's

I watched as this man who was quite capable of walking have a young Thai girl wait for him  as he disembarked from the plane and sat in the wheelchair shouting and waving orders at her as she pushed him.

i walked up behind him and finger flicked him to the back of the ear and the shocked look of the Thai girl pushing him.

Just because he was able to walk the short distance from his seat on the plane to his wheelchair doesn't necessarily mean that he would have been capable of walking the considerably longer distance from the plane to, firstly, Immigration Arrivals, then Baggage Reclaim, and finally through Customs to the main concourse!

I'm not defending his attitude/behaviour, though.

How can you assume someone can walk a certain distance without seeing them do it? Maybe he could get off the plane but it's hard for him to walk through the whole airport, as some gates are far from the pickup . You're going to get into real trouble when you insult the wrong old foreigner one day.

Hello

I called again the airport service for elderly people assistance..

The guy s english language is quite difficult to understand..

He finally told me he cannot book this service and I have to go on sawadee by AOT to book it.. and it would be on the 1st page..

Did it but nothing appears..

I tried through the company but they don t have the electric cart service but only whellchair and my husband who has problems to walk on long distance, doesn t want to sit in a wheelchair.. Anybody could connect to this service and get it please ? Otherwise I still will have time to book through the company a wheel chair, happy or not..

Thanks a lot to everybody

Have a good afternoon

I can see a reference to the (paid for) service on the front page of Sawadee by AOT.  You have to register to use it so I can't take it any further.  It also says you can book it on the sawasdeepass website (but there's a 600THB discount available on the app currently which I can't see on the website).

https://www.sawasdeepass.com/

However, if they are only offering a wheelchair you may be better to contact your airline and ask for the assistance.  That way it'll be free and supplied at both ends of your trip.

I find wheelchair assistance quite convenient.  One phone call does it all.

I use a wheelchair service all the time, and you need to book a wheelchair when you check in. Forget about the phone. However, the service only extends to the plane's door, unless you request assistance to reach your seat, which I'm not aware of.

The airline that I fly requests handicapped passengers to phone in the request.  I am also asked whether I can make it to my seat unassisted, which I can.

If I fly from Perth to BKK, I book a wheelchair in Perth on the way back. I book it when I check in, but every Airline is different

Hello

Just an update as we already reached our destination.. I booked the company assistance (which is free at least for business class) and it worked perfectly..

Did not regret as in all 3 airports (we had a stop in between with 4 hours wait in lounge) the corridors are VERYYYYYY long.. without it my husband would not have make it.. Perfect service. For info we used Ethiopian Airlines from Thailand to Argentina..

Thanks a lot to all
