It still may be that he is a Muslim, that piece of information has been ignored by the police and the media. We can only speculate on that until a statement is made covering his believe is made.

Why wouldn't they release the info it was a 53yo white man? They only cover up for non-whites/Muslims/Immigrants.   This is just another example of two tier policing!

I thought misinformation was posting stuff that isn't true?

I noticed the news headlines all said '53yr old white English man', I doubt they would have been so quick to give his identity out had he been non white.

He could be of any faith they didn't say. Question though when such marches take place the police close off the roads that are to be used. This road, Water Street, was not, why?

Merseyside Police said a Ford Galaxy avoided a roadblock by tailgating an ambulance responding to reports of a member of the public having suffered a heart attack.

So why was that allowed to happen? Water street is not very wide road at the best of times so it wouldn't have been hard for the police to block the road off. The police were negligent in my opinion

The usual lot and racists British guys in Pattaya were desperate for this to be a Muslim.

Sad .

This is the most strawiest of straw men I think I have seen so far.  Nobody is "desperate" for this to be a muslim and you are the first I've seen that seems to link the 2.   Why do you think you did that do you think?  Is there some kind of pattern or history of muslims ploughing vehicles into pedestrians with the purpose of killing and maiming them?   If there was such a pattern of this kind of violence its no surprise that you are linking a car driving into pedestrians with muslims, but I wouldn't necessarily call you a racist for doing so, just someone who is able to identify a pattern of behaviour amongst a certain culture.

Nah, it’s a desperate wish.

There a curious switch in the behaviour of the customary grievance mongers.

Robbed by the swift police announcements of the opportunity to engage in perjorative speculation targeting immigrants/muslims they are now feeding their need for sullen grievance with the baggage they carry around in their own heads that has absolutely nothing to do with this awful incident.

I do hope they don’t get carried away, we absolutely do not need riots targeting middle aged white British men, their businesses, property, places of worship and neighborhoods.

Are you projecting? Certainly sounds like you claim to have the ability to know others wishes, which is impossible so that only leaves projection.

British news (Daily Mail) is now reporting that the driver was high on drugs, apparently not drunk as previously reported, either way a sad event

I liked James O'Brien questioning when we can expect to see people setting fire to golf clubs, garden centres or other places where 53-year old white British males like to hang out. After all it's for the kids, it's about the kids, right?

Why would there be riots? The Police came out with the required information straight away. Are you obsessed with 53 year old white males?

And why did they feel they had to do that?

So if they'd come out and said he was 29, brown, Muslim, and was originally of Syrian parentage but it wasn't terrorism related, would everyone have gone "Great, the police have come out with the required information straight away, let's be sure not to target Muslims or immigrants now".

Farage would have said "Great job police for releasing the information, everyone go home, have a cup of tea and watch telly"?

We all know the answer.

Because they learnt their lessons, honesty is the best policy.

"The decision shows lessons have already been learned from the Southport attacks last summer, when online speculation and disinformation filled a void after the same force released little detail about the 17-year-old they had in custody."
https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cvgv4ddpyddo

"Forces must provide a true narrative online to reach people who may be searching for information," it added.

Now again why do you bring up riots when the police chose not to hide information and not to treat the public like fools?

You do realise that the identity of minors arrested for crimes are protected under UK law?

In the Children and Young Persons Act 1933 (Section 49), there is an automatic restriction on identifying minors involved in youth court proceedings. In adult courts, the media can apply to name a minor, but judges often impose reporting restrictions under Section 45 of the Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act 1999.

They did eventually release his name just before his 18th birthday (when it would have automatically been released anyway) as a judge deemed it was in the public interest. That is called due process.

If the driver of this car was 17 there would have been a similar lack of detail.

If in both cases the suspects are adults then it is usually right to release details.

No idea why I brought that up, no idea why I made that comparison, I don't know what came over me.

Who said anything about his identity?

But at 19:53 BST, the force emailed out a press release including the suspect's age, nationality and ethnicity.

I'm curious to see his mugshot as from the videos (although not great quality) I've seen of the driver of the car he looks to be in his early 30s which considering he is an alleged drug taker would be quite surprising as taking drugs normally ages a person, not de-ages them.   There was a man arrested who looks to be 53 who was part of the lynch mob trying to grab the driver when the police were detaining the actual driver and I assumed the police were talking about him rather than the driver, but now it seems the person who was driving is apparently 53...

Something strange is going on here.   Not convinced we are not being gaslit about something about this character, but no idea what as in the videos he for sure looks to be a white guy.   At the very least I'd like to know what drugs he is taking as whatever he is taking he looks way younger than 53.

I think I know precisely where it is that that ‘something strange’ is ‘going on’.

Swift Police Response to Liverpool Incident Signals Shift After Southport Tragedy

A word from the Police, not that soppy cow seen so far

Bit more info on the suspect............

The man arrested on suspicion of mowing down dozens of people with a car during the Liverpool FC victory parade is a middle class father-of-three who lives in a detached suburban home.
According to social media, the 53-year-old business owner has competed in triathlons, climbed Kilimanjaro, and enjoyed holidays to exotic locations.
The man, who has not been named, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, dangerous driving offences, and driving while unfit through drugs.

You might be right, but look what happened after the Southport murders!  The police can't win.

The police, to an extent, brought it on themselves, if they had been transparent up front, probably thing would have been very different!

Ah, you mean the “ two tier policing” that allows rich landowners to bring London to a standstill with their £100.000+ tractors blocking roads unpunished as opposed to environmentalists being jailed for 5years for only discussing plans to erm…..block roads.

Yeah I got it. You mean it’s “two tier when…..oh never mind.

Apparently they "lifted the roadblock" to let an ambulance through.  I'm guessing "lifting the roadblock" in the Merseyside police strategy manual is that everybody deserts the roadblock and heads to the nearest donut shop rather than just letting the Ambulance through the roadblock and then putting the roadblock back to keep the other vehicles out.

Dereliction of duty

It seems this transparency was short lived.

We are back to "a 31 year old man from Leicester" in the latest car ramming.
