What is the ‘TACO trade’ on Wall Street?
The whole "Taco" meme, whilst amusing, is also indicative of a significant result to Trump's economic policies (if they can be called that). Wall Street and the rest of the world simply don't take him seriously, the bewildering blizzard of tariff announcements and withdrawals, reductions and increases, which appear to be pulled out of a hat (I was about to say from somewhere else but realise that many readers may be eating their breakfasts) make it impossible for anyone trading with or doing business involving imported goods to plan, invest or function. He excuses it as negotiations, but the ground on which he stands shifts so rapidly and unpredictably that negotiations are meaningless. What he is actually doing is bullying - issuing threats in the hope that people and countries will debase them themselves in front of him: in his own course yet memorable phrase " kiss his arse". The trouble is, that whilst his threatened actions may damage the trading partners economies, they also do damage to the US, real damage. The results in the tourist and automotive industries are early evidence. He may hark back to the "golden era" pre 1914 when economic and trade policy was built upon tariffs, but the world's trade system, and the US economy were way way less interconnected and dependent upon trade then. -

Report New Covid-19 Variant NB.1.8.1 Gains Ground in Thailand
Unless one is wearing a completely sealed mask the effectiveness of wearing those common surgical masks that everyone wears is mostly for protecting others from you. During COVID-19, wearing a common surgical mask offers both protection to the wearer and protection to others, but it is generally considered to be more effective at protecting others -

Beating children
It's not just bigots who notice things happening here. It happens. Yes, it happens in other countries but it isn't tolerated like it is here. It's against the law here and it still happens. Schools here, besides a few international schools, pale by comparison to those in the west. I've seen it firsthand children being hit by sticks by teachers, and also parents. Many women carry sticks with them in public places, clinics, shops etc, to keep their children in line. Old school thinking takes a long time to go away. Schools in the wear also do not pass failing students. Schools in the west don't allow students to ride on the top of buses unprotected and also to drive to school on scooters under aged and without helmets. Girls here , as much as 70%, are molested, in schools, before they are 18. In the US it's 12% at most. Many people here say things just as they are because of personal experience. You can visit many times and stay in a village and never see 99% of what happens here, and some live here for many years and still don't see but a fraction of what goes on here. This is not a better environment for children and especially girls.- 1

How about a solar car port on a budget?
That's because I manually set grid charge. The batteries were so low from the previous dull days that we weren't making it through the night. I'm experimenting with how the TOU settings work. -
