The problem is not that they intervened on behalf of the Thai woman, it's that a gang beat the cr.p out of intoxicated, more or less helpless, admittedly, idiots, and thoroughly relished the experience. One or two punches would have been sufficient, anything beyond that had very little to do with the initial slap of the girl, much more about sadistic, possibly xenophobic enjoyment of beating a farang unconscious. 

The slap was just a needed pretext. There is a lot of pent up aggression in a society that on the surface is extremely polite.

Firstly, I don't think with my ass like you. Secondly, you don't know absolutely anything about me, or my friends. Third, I can imagine places you go and smile, like shopping malls or 7/11. You have probably  never been in a bars of that sort in last 20 years, but you do have a strong opinion on everything that you are told. where is a video of those tourists slapping a girl? there are cctv everywhere but I never see any proof of tourists doing all those wrong things. I know people get drunk, and I know they do stupid things, and by no means I am defending someone like that, but every, and I repeat, every incident cited on this page, never, never are Thai guilty of  doing anything wrong. You go back to that secluded place of your and put your head in the sand.heers

What do you mean more to the story? Did the Thai woman say something that offended them, and the only thing the silly morons could do was slap her?

 

I once walked into a Thai bar in Soi Cowboy with a couple of buddies and a girl walked up to me and spat directly into my face for no reason whatsoever. I wasn't even a regular in that soi we were just passing by and decided to check it out, and I had never seen that girl before in my life.

 

It was a complete and utter surprise. Either a case of mistaken identity or the girl had metal illness.

 

I didn't react and I simply 'wiped' the saliva from my face and carried on. However in this instance if a very drunken man was treated in this way or anyone else for that matter would he be forgiven for slapping whoever spat in his face for no reason whatsoever, be it male or female?

 

In any case mob rule and mob beatings are barbaric and shouldn't go down that way. What if it was you on that floor being kicked in the head by a mob and left for dead due to mistaken identity or unjust cause? I'm not saying the guy in the article was innocent but what if he was? The story is not clear or full.

 

Anyone applauding mob beatings is a coward just like the mob of thugs dishing it out. People jumping to conclusions to applaud barbaric violence are sadistic cowards. Pathetic.

Yes one day a group of Thais will kill somebody, may be somebody who was completely innocent but who cares. Proportionate violence is one thing. A disproportionate violent attack is something else.
