In a harrowing incident in Nakhon Pathom, 47-year-old Naphattaon was found dead in a suspected rape and murder case that unfolded on 4th June. The primary suspect is her 29-year-old cousin, known as Nice, who was reportedly attempting to assault her before the tragedy occurred.

The grisly discovery was made by Apisit, a relative tasked with transporting Nice to their aunt's home in Kanchanaburi province. Upon reaching Naphattaon’s residence in Sampran district, Apisit found the house locked and could not reach either her or Nice by phone. Eventually, he gained entry by climbing into the house where he found Nice, injured, on the ground floor in a state of partial undress and surrounded by blood.

After proceeding upstairs, Apisit found the lifeless body of Naphattaon in her bedroom. She had sustained a fatal slash to her throat, a wound near her right eyebrow, and severe bruising across her body. Investigators at the scene discovered a bloody, bent knife and a small piece of tongue in her mouth, suggesting a violent struggle.

Initial investigations by the police indicated that Nice may have attempted to rape Naphattaon, who in her desperate bid to escape, bit his tongue. Despite her efforts, she was unable to survive the attack. Nice, however, denied these accusations, claiming that both he and Naphattaon were attacked by an intruder.

Scepticism surrounds Nice’s account, especially after drug tests came back positive. His past involvement with drug rehabilitation at a hospital in Tha Kradan district further complicated his narrative. Additionally, police uncovered a chilling message on Naphattaon’s phone, sent to her aunt, reading: “Nice is going to kill me.”

As investigators await the completion of evidence collection, and Nice’s recovery from his injuries, the police intend to formally charge him. This tragic incident underlines issues of drug-related violence and the need for thorough investigation and justice for the victim.
