Modifying a PCX, placing two wheels on the back, tricycle style?

I have a suspicion the reason you don't see them any more is exactly because they are not legal.

You might want to look for a Yamaha Tricity   that is totally legal.

But the Tri-City serves a complete different purpose...  It rides just like a two wheeled motorcycle, it counter-steers to enter a corner, it won't stand up alone.....

The Op is looking at this from a more a mobility-scooter perspective - which the TriCity most definitely is not.

there is a company in HUA HIN called ozimoto.

https://ozimoto.com

they do very nice scooter conversions

That makes 150 000 baht for just a pcx rear axle with weels.

They do not register them with wide wheels, thats complete and utter BS.

Its not BS at all. The DLT don't inspect vehicles, a private company working for them does. If the vehicle passes its test, a certificate is given which you then take into the DLT office and tax your vehicle for the next year.  Grease the right palms to the right extent and you can get just about anything through.

Aftermarket pipes are illegal in Thailand - how do you think all the bikes with them on get through the test each year? No they don't take them off and refit the original for the test. Plenty of my mates get their bikes through every year.

I've even seen a guy produce a VIN number on a piece of metal with a VIN stamped on it for the masking tape pencil rubbing that's required. T.I.T. or didn't you realise?

Exactly as the busses have been doing... with extra LNG tanks etc...   as you wrote - grease the palms... anything gets through.

Just because the system is bypassed does not make them legal.

They are illegal.. end of.

I have many tickets issued by highway police to prove this.

FWIW, Bike pipes fitted with a TIS badge are legal, those without are not.... I too have had issue with police over this.

Probably doesn't want the cost of a new one.

It has nothing to do with cost, I have a good bike although it is old has 150,000KM, I have more cars and bike now taking this one is a wise decision has nothing to do with money or buying a new one!

Thanks, I was told this year ago when I looked into it.

Thanks everyone for the feedback, especially with possible cost.

If I need to spend 100,000 to modify then it's gets red line out of my thinking " Best bang out of the baht ,"  I will continue to look for a shop and actual price. There are lots of electric product out in the market wil keep looking.

A new PCX today 160 run you bit over 100,000 baht.  Many out there range of 100,000 baht can get an electric scooter type vehicle with rear brakes light, cover, no doors, seating in the back with headlights but I don't think it is really truly legal here although it is being sold I didn't see plates on it at my granddaughter school.

Travel speed I noticed you are not going to get even a speed of 40-50 KM/H, but it was going pretty well at 30, the best part it can still undertake car traffic if one picks and choose I noticed while I was sitting in traffic trying to get out of school grounds.
