Decathlon Lotus?

What happened to the Decathlon store at Lotus north Pattaya? 

Went up the escalator for my twice a year sports shopping to find empty space where the Decathlon store used to be. 

I know there is a new one out on Sukhumvit .Did they relocate?

New place on Sukhumvit is awesome. Much larger with more items on display, go check it out,,,

I absolutely hate that new location.  I usually go through Theprasit intersection which is a bit of a nightmare, especially around rush hour.  Depending on which direction, you can be waiting for quite awhile at that intersection.  If you are coming from Pattaya on the left side of Sukhumvit then no problem, but you still have to get on the other side of Sukhumvit on the way back and the next u-turn is quite a ways down from what I remember.  It's quite stressful, especially during rush hour.

 

They are building an AnyTime Fitness right beside it.  May even be already done or getting close by now.  I wanted to sign up so I can also use their locations in Bangkok and the Philippines, but that location is just too much of a PiTA and too much traffic for me to deal with on a daily basis.

I like the location, North Pattaya was a Pita. Underground car park at the back

 

They moved partially to save a lot of rent

Well yes, you answered your own question. The new place is quite big and offers a good selection. Not cheap, but worth a visit.

Ah the difference for those of us who live to the North! That used to be my go to shopping area but the arrival of T21 made it so busy.

instead of driving there, you could walk and get some exercise😕

Walking is far more dangerous there, a few weeks ago just up on Sukhumvit, Chinese were killed crossing the road

I hope " not cheap" doesn't mean more expensive than the old Lotus branch.

Good quality at Decathlon at a good price, how cheap do you want? The best thing is the 2 year warranty, and they don't try to fight when you take something back

There's an overbridge 300 hundred yards south and traffic lights at Threppasit 100 yards north where it's safe to cross.  The Chinese were trying to skip across 8 lanes of traffic.

I disagree. The camping gear is not good quality. I'm unimpressed with the bags as well.

It's heavy, poorly designed. If it breaks when you are in the outdoors a warranty is cold comfort.

 

It's really junk stuff tbh. Some of the clothes are ok. Their higher end sleeping pads are marginal, but like everything mfg it's bulky and heavy. A sleep pad we have is over two years old and is toast. Probably only slept on cumulative 3-4 months.

 

Backpack, tents are crap

 

I also hate the no cash policy.

I seem to recall someone else mentioned that to me, although I bought trainers there a couple of months ago for cash.  Is it strictly enforced now?

I bought a couple of training shirts there 7 years ago and still wear them, so nothing wrong with the quality.  Actually I am surprised how long they last.

Yeah the clothes and trainers are good enough, I have golf shorts, exercise shorts, socks, trainers, floor pump, HRM, all good for the price

Sounds like you need more premium, pay more, I wouldn't buy golf equipment or bicycles there

Clothes are clothes. It's not about how old the clothes are, but how many washings and wearings. I'm talking more about their gear. It's a peg down from Coleman.

 

I'm not going in a store for years. Ever since the cash issue had arisen. I will say that my Thai wife likes the store although she is not nearly as discerning when it comes to camping gear as I am.

True enough but it's just sort of junky stuff. The next time you're in really go through one of their bags which are not inexpensive and if you know anything about tents just look at the seams, the tent poles the overall design. This stuff isn't cheap, but seems like one peg up from Besico.

I know zero about camping equipment but their golf bags are good well made, not cheap
