A incident occurred in Chumphon province on 8 June, when a 40-year-old farm worker died after the tractor he was driving veered off a steep road and plunged into a ravine approximately 40 metres deep. The incident also left a female passenger injured, though she narrowly escaped more serious harm by leaping from the vehicle just in time.

Police Lieutenant Samart Than-in, duty investigator at Tha Sae Police Station, received an emergency call around 17:00. The crash took place along the steep, mountainous Phanwa-Ke-La Road, in Moo 13, Rabror Subdistrict, Tha Sae District, around 20 kilometres from the Thai-Myanmar border.

Rescue teams from the Chumphon Charity Foundation and Rabror Subdistrict Administrative Organisation responded swiftly. Upon arrival, they discovered 34-year-old Ms. Panadda from Udon Thani, who had suffered injuries to her head and body. She was transported to Tha Sae Hospital for treatment.

The deceased was later identified as Mr. Sarawut, 40, from Huai Yot District in Trang province. His body was found lying face-up in roadside undergrowth with blood visible around his mouth. Emergency responders covered the body with a white sheet before recovering it and sending it to Tha Sae Hospital for a formal post-mortem examination.

Initial on-site investigations revealed skid marks on the steep descent, indicating a loss of control. At the bottom of the ravine, responders located a severely damaged red tractor with shattered wheels and scattered parts, along a trail of broken vegetation.

Ms. Panadda, who had been riding as a passenger, managed to jump clear of the vehicle before it plummeted into the ravine. Authorities believe Mr. Sarawut was ejected from the vehicle and then fatally crushed as the tractor tumbled down.

Police are continuing their investigation and plan to interview Ms. Panadda further to determine the exact circumstances leading to the incident.
