So wife must be there with me at the amphur to get it ? or can I get it on my own?

Might depend on the Amphur office but  I got the paper without wife being there...they asked and I just told them she was at work,

they wanted the original marriage certificate and a copy  my pasport and wifes ID card.

Your wife can get the KR2 on her lunch break. It takes like 5-minutes

depends 2 years ago we went in the morning and it was packed  then they closed for lunch we  barely made it back to Jomtien to submit the application on that day...very stressful.

No.

You seem averse to actually going to your immigration office and asking for the hand out listing the exact documents required so you can pull this extension off with one try (rather than the several attempts many people make <- people who don't go get the hand out 😉

Which is exactly what you need to do OP.  I do that at my own Immigration office year to year because each Immigration office is its own fiefdom and things change year-to-year at individual offices that may not affect anywhere else.

Is it a quick and easy process?

No.  Which is why you need to be prepared.

at the amphur ..  ( any office can do it )  the wife must present her National ID card...    takes 2 minutes

at the bank you ask for a letter confirming funds for immigration   I always get 3 months  that takes 10-15 minutes

Yep. Mine changed their minds two years ago and demand 3 months of statements plus copies of the bank book.

you can't get it    she must get it

I never even get out of the car   it's so quick

You can get a bank letter and a 3 month listing of statements all by yourself.  It's your account.  In fact, if you have a joint account, you can't use it.  The account must be in your own name only. So I have no idea why people are telling you that you need your wife to come in person in order to get a bank letter and a print out of last 3 months (2 months in some places) of statements. That's nonsense.

You can get a K.2 by yourself too.  This is why you obtain a yellow house book and a Pink National ID card. Take a signed copy of your wife's ID card as well.  Take your original marriage certificate with you.  Your wife doesn't need to be there.

If you are married, why not just let your wife handle it?

I think they want you to submit 30 days prior to expiration.

Up to 45 days before.

AI told me the names of the documents I need to ask for:

Here are the usual Thai terms for those two documents:

  • Standard bank letter
    หนังสือรับรองยอดเงินคงเหลือจากธนาคาร
    (nang-sue rap-rong yôt ngern khong-luea chak thanakhan)

  • 3-month detailed transaction report
    รายงานรายการเดินบัญชีย้อนหลัง 3 เดือน
    (rai-ngaan rai-gaan dern ban-chee yon-lang šaam duean)

For future reference.

She works full time in HR in the city. It's quite difficult to get her out of the office, especially on a weekday, needs to be planned ahead in advance. I work at home and do the school runs and try to do any menial tasks related to immigration myself.

The Immigration Office I go to takes appointment.  They have a local online portal.  Check with your immigration office and see if you can make an appointment so that your wife and plan ahead.

Not following.

As posted few times in thread.

Regarding bank you need 2 items.

1. Bank Letter to confirm ownership and balance on day of application +

2. 3 month bank statement. Some immigration offices will accept bank book and photocopies of pages showing financial compliance.

Nothing new.

Both can be obtained days prior to application.

Good idea to update bb on day of application.

Certainly at immigration, IOs are much happier talking to the wife.

Actually I just shut up and let my wife do all of the talking.  At this point she personally knows 3 IOs at our office on a casual level and hangs out and gossips with them.

Of course she will be with me on that day yes, but I have to prepare everything.

You should prepare all the documents two copies with signatures and take them to the immigration to check first.
You can leave the date until the day you apply.

All documents have to be signed on both copies. Some signed by your wife.

There is a form STM10, Affidavit of family relationship, partly completed by your wife and signed by her.
It also requires the competent official and a witness.
A recent post indicated that their immigration office required a witness, present at the office to sign. That is what happened to me in Hua hin last friday.
Other people replying to the recent post said that somebody else in immigration could act as a witness,
but Hua hin required me to have a witness who knows us. And they required to see witness house book and  two copies of the witness house book signed.
Check with your immigration office what they require for the witness and whether it can be somebody else at immigration.

You could try taking the marriage certificate and her ID to the amphur and see what they say, probably no but you never know.

talk about making a crisis out of a drama....

The amphoe is 200m across the car park from the IO (which is a 5min walk from the BTS, it's not exactly away in Isaan). She can do it by the time you have got your queue number and sat down.
