Cheese 🧀 and yogurt has very little lactose. It is all "eaten" by the bacteria during the cheese/yogurt making process.

Test this out on a random sample of Thais, preferably not ones who have farang partners and may have gone through cultural change.

Q : Do you like cheese? A : No.

Q : Do you like pizza? A : Yes

Q : What is on pizza? A : Cheese

They will see no logical flaw in their answers.

I heard about it long ago, that Thais and a lot of Asians are intolerant. I myself was when I was young and was given Soymilk, which I use daily now. They give the children milk here, which isn't for humans anyway, and it causes a lot of problems, especially in adults here. It was supposed to help with height, but there are other sources of calcium that are better absorbed. If your daughter has problems with cheese, which isn't too high in lactose, especially aged or hard cheese, it's better to use other sources of calcium like sardines, almonds and green veggies. This link shows a bit...........https://blog.lumahealth.com/lactose-intolerance-in-thailand-south-east-asia.

She did not get it, She was born with the genetic trait. I think it is upwards of 2/3 of the population are lactose intolerant. There is a reason there is so little milk and cheese used here, it makes people sick.

Most of the world is lactose intolerant as adults.  Only people with European ancestry and some regions in Africa tolerate lactose as adults.  Most mammals develop lactose intolerance when they reach adulthood.  It's a natural way of getting them to stop drinking the mother's milk.

There is not any significant lactose in cheese however, so if she got sick after eating cheese, that's not the cause.  You can buy lactose free milk in most any supermarket in Thailand.

I have been drinking this type of milk for years in LOS. It costs more than regular cows milk but cheaper then almond, soy or oat milk.  Soy milk is really cheap but I get tired of it.
