Georgealbert Posted Sunday at 09:42 PM Posted Sunday at 09:42 PM Picture courtesy of Khaosod. In a horrifying case of jealous rage, a 27-year-old man stabbed his partner to death with more than 30 knife wounds after she tried to end their relationship to return to her former husband. The brutal killing occurred just after midnight on 15 June in the woman’s bedroom in Wang Thong Subdistrict, Mueang District, Kamphaeng Phet Province. Police from Mueang Kamphaeng Phet Station were called to the scene after reports of a fatal domestic dispute. The victim, identified as Ms. Somphit, 43, a local noodle shop owner, was found dead in her room with multiple stab wounds across her body, including a fatal blow to the back of her neck. The suspect, Mr. Phanu “Teh” Ponglo, a local lorry driver and the victim’s boyfriend of three years, surrendered to police shortly after the incident. During questioning, he admitted to killing Somphit after she told him she wanted to end their relationship to reunite with her ex-husband, who had recently been released from prison after serving a six-year sentence for attempted murder. According to Mr. Phanu, he had travelled from Mae Sot District in Tak Province to Kamphaeng Phet to collect his belongings and make a final attempt at reconciliation. After drinking three bottles of beer, he snuck into the victim’s home via the back door and found her asleep in the bedroom. Upon reading her private Facebook and Line messages confirming her intention to leave him for her ex, he was overcome with rage. When Somphit awoke and attempted to take back her phone, a violent struggle ensued. Phanu used a knife he claimed to be carrying for self-defence and stabbed her repeatedly, initially in the stomach and then across her body in a frenzied attack. After fleeing the scene, he contacted his mother, who later accompanied him to surrender to police. Phanu expressed remorse and admitted to the killing during police questioning. Somphit’s mother-in-law, 59-year-old Mrs. Laemthong Suraphong, revealed that her daughter-in-law had called her earlier that day to apologise and explain her intention to return to her former husband, expressing guilt over his past imprisonment. Mrs. Laemthong stated that she had no ill feelings toward Somphit and had simply hoped they would part ways peacefully. Police have charged Phanu with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, and night-time home invasion. Due to concerns over his safety, he has declined to participate in a crime reenactment, citing previous conflicts with the victim’s associates. Authorities are continuing their investigation and gathering further evidence to proceed with prosecution. Adapted by Asean Now from Khoasod 2025-06-16 2 4
fredwiggy Posted Monday at 03:14 AM Posted Monday at 03:14 AM So, instead of using common sense, knowing the woman wanted her ex husband, that the choice is always the woman's and should be respected and that there are millions of single women here that might be a better choice, he kills her, and now the only sex he will have is from local men in prison. 2 3

Adapted by Asean Now from Khoasod 2025-06-16 the problem is with these simple minds, that in jail they would be treated like heroes, taught his wife a lesson etc, no further remorse... and this spoiled brat still living with his mom, still has to aknowledge her first... mental nutcase!

Thai female promiscuity causes so many problems in this country. Not that I am saying I want to change it though. 4 3

If murder carried a mandatory death sentence some would still go down that route but many would think twice and would not continue.
wensiensheng Posted Tuesday at 07:49 AM Posted Tuesday at 07:49 AM Somewhat more serious than sex in the back of a tuk tuk. And this is not an isolated rage killing by a Thai. If my memory serves me correctly it’s the third in two days in fact. Extrapolate that over the course of a year and it’s quite a body count. 1

The only way she'll have peace is to move away and not let anyone besides family know where. Those kinds of men sometimes don't give up and it doesn't take but a bullet to kill anyone. They don't care as life here doesn't mean as much as it does in the west. If it's my time to go, bla bla, instead of doing what you can to preserve this precious thing. If he treated her right she might have stayed, but some men think they can do whatever they want and get away with it. Smart women leave. The hitting doesn't stop and sometimes it goes all the way. 1

spidermike007 Posted Tuesday at 09:01 AM Posted Tuesday at 09:01 AM What a worthless, pathetic worm. I just do not understand this kind of thing. When a relationship is not working out, a real man tries to make it work, and when he sees that she is not who he thought she was, and things are just not coming together, he walks away, holding his head high. Anyone man with self esteem, who is in possession of his manhood, just wishes the woman well, and walks away. With a failure like this total goon, one has to ask: 1. Who are his parents, and why did they fail so miserably? 2. Why did he stop maturing at the age of 13, and never become a man? 3. Why does he have no self esteem. What caused him to hate himself so much, that he could not just accept reality, and walk away? 4. Why does this worthless thug have so little respect for others, and for human life? One has to hope he will be locked up in prison for a very long time, and let us hope some of his fellow inmates teach him the kinds of lessons he should have learned long ago. 1
Jonathan Swift Posted Tuesday at 02:15 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:15 PM These individuals with violent tendencies can usually be identified before the relationships get off the ground. There are always telltale signs, it's so sad that so many women don't figure it out out until it's too late. Very likely that his anger and violence issues led to her wanting to break up with the guy. So heartbreaking, so much suffering inflicted to the friends and family of the deceased. Rest in Peace.

There are quite a lot of women in the world, and trying to stay with one that really doesn't want you around isn't going to end well. There are always women out there that will go with any kind of man available, even you.
