It is only by the most frothy mouthed application of American political metrics that I would ever be considered left wing. I have never claimed that Trump's tariffs would cause worldwide inflation, although I am prepared to be advised by those better schooled in global economics that that could be the case. I certainly fail to see how they can avoid having inflationary effects upon the internal US market! Let us consider an often discussed commodity, children's dolls manufactured in China and immensely popular with little girls in the US. It really is plain as a pikestaff that if you impose a tariff on them, levied at the point of import, the retail price will go up; and very likely the supply will be reduced. Inflation. The same doll, imported by other countries which do not impose tariffs will not have to cope with this inflation. The tariff system being imposed is very likely to do grave damage to the United States economy, and probably lead to widespread restructuring of the global trade structure - we are already seeing many products previously traded with the US going to and from other markets. This may be, initially, inflationary, perhaps, but medium and long-term free trade cannot but reduce or at least stabilise prices. The US (or it's current government) seems to have decided to have broken from this principle, and they are unlikely to be treated as a trustworthy partner in trade, or many other matters on the international stage in the future. So no, I don't admit that I have no idea. You may of course reduce all discussions to disparaging, and frankly at times, abusive one liners, accompanied by an emoji, but really this only reveals the fragility and lack of depth of your argument. Tariffs are one off. So they flatten out and if an economic slowdown happens prices fall. I rarely use negative emojis. I use the laughing ones cause you guys are so biased its funny.

Trump should just buy China....United States of China, the 51st American State ! Of course it will. The building part is easy, however the staffing part will be the hardest. Where will you find enough workers to work for low wages? Remember that Trump is deporting all the cheap labour, so you will ne left with true blue US citizens, and I doubt that they will work fir cheap wages.

You spew out so many posts in a day that you can't remember who you are replying to - just constant barrage of nonsense and you mix people up. I've seen it many times, and more than once in this thread alone. Explain why I can't use a mobile then.

June 18, 20251 yr More news about Trump's China phone. Be careful not to spit your food or drink over your keyboard when reading the article. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/the-trump-phone-probably-wont-be-built-in-america-and-may-never-be-162105071.html The Trump phone probably won’t be built in America (and may never be) In an interview with conservative YouTube personality Benny Johnson, Eric Trump held up what he claimed was a golden Trump phone, though it struck more than a passing resemblance to an iPhone. The Trump Mobile site lists the T1 Phone as sporting a 6.8-inch AMOLED display and 256GB of storage. The company also oddly lists its RAM as 12GB of storage. RAM and storage are different forms of memory. The phone will also come with a triple lens, set up with a 50MP main camera, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 2MP macro lens. Earlier reports indicated that the company initially claimed the phone would include a 5,000mAh camera, which is actually a measure of battery life, not a camera specification.

I had a quick look this morning and the minimum working wage is $7.25. The minimum working wage in Taiwan is $5.78. The minimum working wage in China is $3.70 (Shanghai is the highest and Guangxi is the lowest). Assuming that Trump is serious about making smart phones in the USA, the USA will need yo pay less than the Chinese rates to achieve the same profit level, plus the USA will need to source the entire parts required in the USA, so more factories producing those parts at prices lower than China will be needed, along with low wage workers to staff them.

The minimum working wage of any country embodies an assumption smartphones are put together by the dumbest people. IMO there may be more skilled labor required somewhere in the production process.
