Keep ‘em coming! Much better than ‘where’s the best hamburger?’ Or “Do you like the Walking Street?
I remember those smoking rooms back when I was hooked. Horrible even for a serious smoker. Stopping was the best thing I’ve done!

Anyone wanting help to stop smoking, feel free to ask about ‘the easy way.’

Who the fekk’s still usin’ them smokin’ rooms in airports and other public spots, eh? You know the ones I mean. Little glass torture chambers shoved in the far corner like they’re tryin’ to hide the shame. Ten square feet of misery, visibility down to knee height, and every poor sod inside lookin’ like they’ve been sentenced for crimes against fresh air.

I get it, yeah lads. Nicotine cravings sneak up on ya like a dodgy ex. But mate, how desperate do you have to be to lock yourself in a Perspex coffin with a dozen other wheezin’ zombies, all puffin’ away like it’s last orders on the Titanic? There’s more oxygen on Mars than in them booths. It ain’t smokin’ at that point, it’s organised suffocation.

And have you clocked their faces? Not a smile in sight. No joy, no relief, just dead-eyed stares like they’ve already written their obituaries. Like, “Yep, this is how I go. Surrounded by strangers and Marlboro fog.” You’d get more pleasure lickin’ the inside of a bin.

At that point, it ain’t even a ciggie break. It’s a cry for help with a lighter. Might as well shrink-wrap your head and climb into a tumble dryer.

Just a wild guess but I would say smokers on a layover that have not had a cigarette for hours. Why is it any of your business?

Go on then, tell us. You know you are dying to.

I am one month today off the cigs. Still finding it difficult, particularly when I have a beer (if anyone suggests packing in the beer then aswell I WILL hunt you down and have your nads on the end of a stick).

I am pretty determined though this time. Don't want to vape or anything so (a bit strange) I have been having the occasional chuff on half a plastic straw with a bit of tissue paper stuck in the end to offer some 'resistance'. Seems to be working for me.

What's the easy way then?

Have you tried the low carb beer ??? (sorry - couldn't resist).

Seriously, though - try some good craft beers and see them as an alternative 'luxury' to smoking....

The easy way ?...  being superior and judgemental on forum such as this, perhaps.

But... you've already clearly broken the addiction - its the habit thats apparently more difficult and breaking that can take years...

They are only laughing because it smells bad, they don't like it, and you are making them feel uncomfortable.

Very bizarre logic. Just because someone’s trying to quit smoking doesn’t mean they suddenly want to replace it with an equally bad beer habit. That’s like telling a diabetic to ditch sugar and celebrate with a chocolate cake.

Very few and far between now, I do hope Swampy brings them back.

They are everywhere in Japan. Even in 7-Eleven and Family Mart over there. Filthy stuff.

I quit a long time ago, but it was not easy. My program was a combination of patches and gum, but I doubled the length of time allocated. I had been smoking for 40 years, so taking a month to quit instead of two weeks was no big deal. Mix the gum with some regular gum so when you are down to half a piece, you have something big enough to chew.

I remember the smoking rooms well, particularly on long haul flights. They were a godsend. I got pretty good at smuggling lighters and matches.

People who smoke, knowing they are 20 times more likely to die of lung cancer than a non-smoker, are the stupid ones.

Every time I open a thread started by Lewie (which is pretty much every day😄) there you are, complaining.

Why?

Stop opening Lewie's posts then you will not see Proton, or anyone else's complaints about the rubbish he starts.

Very bizarre logic - assuming a few high end Craft Beers are equally as bad and habit forming as Smoking...

Next you'll be telling me sipping a coffee is equivalent to injecting heroin. Get a grip.

You must be kidding. There is no 'easy way' to quit smoking.

I'm sorry we don't have a sarcasm emoji.

However, you stand a very good chance of being successful. Your mindset about quitting is right. You never once used the words 'try' or 'trying' to quit. You used the word 'determined.'  The offer of help is still there.  🙂

Don't you mean low-alcohol beer? There are plenty with low carb, but high ABV, and vice versa.

I meant (not seriously) the low carb beer - Singha 89 Cals... ( blue and white can, big 89 on it )...

But... more on topic... Smoking is obviously a habit and for those who wish to break the habit while remaining social could change their drink choice and even location...

Instead of 'smashing back the Chang's'...   taking enjoyment from a good craft beer might be a suitable alliterative to 'break' that habit of smoking...

And now you've fallen off the deep end and have moved onto comparing coffee to heroin. Sheesh. It's you clearly that needs to get a grip.
