A young man was apprehended for selling drugs to tourists in Koh Pha Ngan, a popular destination known for its vibrant beach parties.

At 4pm yesterday, police arrested 22-year-old Sarayuth, seizing 73.82 grammes of crystal methamphetamine and 150 methamphetamine pills. The arrest occurred near Siam Residence in Koh Pha Ngan district, Surat Thani province.

The suspect, riding a black Honda PCX, was reported to be persistently offering drugs to tourists at beach venues. Authorities were alerted to his activities by local reports, describing his approach as targeting party-goers with offers of narcotics.

During questioning, Sarayuth admitted he bought the drugs for 10,000 baht from an unknown individual, casually remarking that drug dealing was “just a way of life for men.” His cavalier attitude highlighted the ongoing challenges in tackling drug distribution at tourist hotspots.

Sarayuth now faces charges of possession with intent to distribute category 1 narcotics. He has been taken to Koh Pha Ngan Police Station, where further legal proceedings are underway.

This incident underscores issues of drug circulation in tourist areas, prompting local authorities to step up surveillance and enforcement efforts to keep travellers safe.
