Authorities have located all six suspicious devices planted across Phuket province, following a confession by a suspect currently in custody. The latest discoveries were made on 27 June at Surin Beach in Thalang district, bringing the search operation to a close.

A coordinated operation involving the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit from Provincial Police Region 8, local investigators, Thalang District officials, and officers from Cherng Talay Police Station was launched to search two additional sites identified by the suspect. Armed with detection equipment and metal scanners, the teams focused their efforts on areas near construction zones along Surin Beach.

The first device was discovered buried under a tree near a public restroom close to the beach landscaping project overseen by the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning. EOD officers successfully neutralised the device using standard disposal procedures.

Later in the day, at approximately 17:20, a second suspicious item was found buried in the sand beneath a tree along the beachfront. It had been concealed inside a green tumbler. Officers carefully disabled the circuit before removing the device for forensic examination to again see if it was a credible explosive device.

The two devices at Surin Beach bring the total number of recovered suspicious objects in Phuket to six, matching the suspect’s statement during interrogation. The full list of discovery sites includes:

• Phuket International Airport (1 device)

• Promthep Cape (1 device)

• Patong Beach (2 devices)

• Surin Beach (2 devices)

Authorities are continuing to investigate the motive and potential network behind the placements.

The issue is in the south, so keep it in the south.

Stop targeting innocent locals and holidaymakers, that will not garner you any support or sympathy.

I wonder what interview techniques they used to get this accurate information. Whatever interrogation tactics they used, it was clearly effective.

Nothing confirmed as an explosive device... I'm wondering if these are simple smoke screens, created by the military, to scare the public,  giving the military another reason for a coup.

Why didn't they take the suspect to Surin Beach to show them where the devices were instead of having to sweep the area with metal detectors ?

You mean when they say one device detonated really means nothing confirmed as an explosive device? Where did you learn this type of English? https://aseannow.com/topic/1364870-suspected-explosive-device-safely-detonated-on-patong-beach/

Can I clarify a term that seems to be causing confusion.

This was a controlled detention, not an explosion.

Controlled detention is a term used worldwide by EODs, law enforcement, military, emergency services and responsers.

Controlled Detention is a non-destructive procedure used to temporarily contain or stabilise a suspicious item, so it can be examined or dealt with safely.

But you need an explosive device to be able to detonate it.

From your linked news article;

Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) specialists safely carried out a controlled detonation of a suspected explosive device found near Patong Beach on the morning of 26 June.

EOD teams conducted a thorough examination of the item before carrying out the controlled detonation. No injuries or property damage were reported. Authorities have not yet confirmed what object was discovered or if it was a credible explosive device.

I'm no nothing about Bomb Disposal but I do know anything that resembles a IED is treated either with a disposal expert suited out to defuse it or you detonate it with a small amount of Explosive fake or real no chances are afforded.
