In a heartwarming event in Ang Thong province, two volunteers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation, Parinya Suwanchainchinda and Supamongkol Chuencheep, successfully delivered a baby girl on the roadside. The incident unfolded on June 29 at 1.42 pm when emergency services received a call from a distressed black pickup truck parked on Saengha – Pho Thong Road in Khok Phutsa subdistrict, Pho Thong district.

The call reported a woman in labour, urgently needing assistance. Parinya, 41, and Supamongkol, 23, had just finished transporting a deceased body for religious rites at a local temple when they saw someone signalling them for help. Without hesitation, they stopped to assess the situation and immediately contacted the Pho Thong Hospital emergency team for support.

Upon arrival, they found the woman, a Myanmar national, amidst intense labour pains, preparing to give birth to her second child. Using their emergency medical training from Ang Thong Hospital and the equipment in their vehicle, the volunteers skillfully assisted with the delivery.

Supamongkol later shared their initial excitement and nervousness. "It was our first time handling a childbirth situation since joining the foundation, but we were determined to help," he said. Parinya added, "It was nerve-wracking but incredibly rewarding to see the newborn arrive safely."

The newborn, a healthy baby girl, was soon cradled in her mother’s arms. Both mother and child were then carefully transported to Pho Thong Hospital for post-delivery care, ensuring their well-being.

This incident underscores the vital role of trained volunteers in emergency scenarios. Thanks to their swift action and dedication, an urgent situation was handled with care and professionalism. The volunteers' readiness to assist highlights their deep commitment to the community, going above and beyond the call of duty.

Their story is a testament to the impact of training and preparedness, reminding us of the invaluable service provided by volunteer emergency responders. Parinya and Supamongkol’s actions have not only brought joy to a family but have also set an inspiring example of compassion and heroism.
