In Trang province, two 17-year-old boys have been apprehended for the alleged murder of a 33-year-old man, Taweechai, whose body was found buried in a forest. The incident has sent shockwaves through the Mueang district community.

The body was discovered on June 29 by locals who noticed a tattooed arm protruding from the ground in a palm plantation. Upon investigation, it was determined that Taweechai had been dead for several days.

On June 30 at 2:30 p.m., Police Colonel Phum Banthip and his team detained the young suspects, known only as A and B since they are minors. During questioning, they admitted to killing Taweechai, recounting the events leading to the crime.

According to their statement, an argument with Taweechai escalated when he allegedly pulled a knife. In response, the teenagers claimed they acted in self-defence, shooting him four times, which resulted in his immediate death.

Panicked by their actions, A and B dragged the body deeper into the forest. They then returned home to retrieve a shovel, hurriedly burying Taweechai’s body as dawn approached. Their rushed attempt left the victim’s arm exposed, leading to the grim discovery by locals.

The firearm used in the shooting has allegedly been discarded, complicating the investigation further. Police are actively searching for the weapon to piece together more details of the incident.

A background check on Taweechai uncovered that he had faced charges in 2024 for possession of a category 1 narcotic in Nakhon Pathom. Additionally, there was an outstanding arrest warrant against him for probation violation.

The ongoing investigation aims to explore all aspects of the case, including the relationship between the suspects and the victim, and any potential motives beyond self-defence.

The tragic event has raised concerns about youth violence and the need for community support systems to prevent similar incidents. Local authorities are urging anyone with further information to come forward as they continue their inquiry into this disturbing case.
