The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has issued an apology following a technical glitch that disrupted the registration process for the "Tiew Thai Khon La Krueng" (Half-Half Thai Travel) scheme. This co-payment initiative, designed to boost domestic tourism, encountered a system failure shortly after opening at 8am on July 1, affecting the registration of 500,000 travel entitlements.

The scheme allows Thai citizens to register for travel subsidies through the website www.เที่ยวไทยคนละครึ่ง.com and the Amazing Thailand mobile app. The intended travel period extends from July 4 to October 31, 2025.

Upon discovering the issue, TAT quickly began efforts to rectify the problem and restore system functionality. In their public statement, the TAT expressed their regret for the inconvenience caused to prospective participants and assured the public they are working diligently to resolve the issue.

As of the evening of July 1, about 188,675 people managed to successfully register, with 272 individuals already making payments to activate their entitlements. This leaves nearly 500,000 available rights still unclaimed, reassuring those affected by the glitch that opportunities remain.

TAT highlighted that registration will continue through the existing channels as soon as the system is back online. They encouraged citizens to remain patient and continue to check the platforms for updates on the system's status.

The "Half-Half Thai Travel" scheme aims to stimulate the domestic tourism sector by offering financial incentives to local travellers. By covering part of the travel costs, the initiative seeks to reinvigorate local economies, especially those heavily reliant on tourism.

In light of this technical setback, TAT is reinforcing their efforts to ensure the system's stability in future transactions. They are committed to providing a seamless experience for all participants and maximising the initiative's impact on Thailand's tourism industry.

The ongoing situation highlights the importance of reliable digital infrastructure in implementing nationwide programmes and the challenges that can arise when technology fails. Despite this hiccup, TAT remains optimistic about the scheme's potential to boost domestic travel once the system is fully operational again.
