In Chiang Mai province, four abandoned Rottweilers have been rescued by The ARK Chiangmai animal welfare foundation, with one dog suffering from gunshot wounds.

The rescue operation began after locals from Mae Kam Pong Village, a popular tourist area, discovered the starving and rain-soaked dogs in the forest. Seeking help, they contacted Odd, the abbot of Chedi Luang Temple, who then reached out to The ARK Chiangmai for assistance.

Believed to have been abandoned four to five days before their discovery, the dogs were in desperate need of care. The foundation's team gained the animals' trust by providing food and used anaesthetics to safely transport them to the shelter.

Veterinary examinations revealed that one Rottweiler had metal fragments and two bullets lodged in its body, with wounds dangerously close to vital organs. Emergency surgery was performed to remove the bullets, and parasitic worms were also treated.

As of July 2, all four dogs are in stable condition, eating well, and interacting with each other. While many dog lovers have offered help and expressed interest in adoption, the foundation plans to wait until the dogs have fully recovered before rehoming. This process will involve careful evaluations to ensure the animals find suitable homes.

Supporters or potential adopters can contact the foundation via Facebook or at 053-291-904. It's still unclear if the monk or the foundation will report the abandonment and shooting to the police for further investigation.
