A video showing police officers taking swift and decisive action to subdue a knife-wielding man in the Don Mueang district of Bangkok has gone viral, drawing widespread praise from the public online.

The footage, shared by the popular Facebook page Friends of Police, captures a tense five-minute standoff in which multiple officers attempt to calm the man, who is seen sitting with a knife in hand. The officers can be heard pleading with him to put the weapon down and talk peacefully, reassuring him that they are willing to listen to his concerns.

Despite repeated attempts at negotiation, the man reportedly ignored the officers’ instructions and began walking directly towards them while still holding the knife. With the threat escalating rapidly, one officer made the decision to fire a shot, hitting the man in the leg to prevent further danger.

Officers then quickly moved in to disarm the man, administer first aid and call for an ambulance. He was taken into custody and is now facing legal proceedings.

The post, accompanied by the hashtag #DonMueang, sparked a flood of positive reactions, with many users praising the professionalism and composure of the police during a highly volatile situation.

“It’s easy to criticise from a distance, but when someone is charging at you with a knife, you have seconds to act,” read one comment. “The officers acted responsibly and with restraint.”

Authorities have yet to release further details about the man or the motive behind the incident. However, the video continues to circulate widely, with many applauding what they see as a textbook example of controlled and appropriate use of force in a dangerous scenario.

Well done. After many attempts to let him give up and told him many times to calm down they did the right thing.

Also that they used torque on his leg to stop bleading.Im sure if in US they would shoot him dead with 20 bullets.

Maybe more.

I agree. He holds the gun tilting his hand rather than being vertical. He is lucky he hits the guys rather than the innocent bystanders behind them watching.

Good shot, appropriate measures. Now for the rest of those who carry weapons with the intent to harm or kill others

Ooops, the cop was aiming at his head

If this happened in the US they would still be counting the bullet holes in the guy with the knife and if a cop did just shoot him in the leg, he would be reprimanded for his action for not aiming for the heart/torso, ie using lethal force.
