In a dramatic early-morning police operation, the son of a local politician escaped arrest after ramming a police vehicle and fleeing in a car later found abandoned and packed with illegal drugs.

At approximately 07:00 on 9 July, officers from the Provincial Police Investigation Division of Nonthaburi, led by Pol. Lt. Col. Supachai Srisak and Pol. Capt. Ekaphan Phlayasrisawat, executed a court-approved search warrant at a residence in Sai Noi District, suspected of operating an illegal online gambling ring.

As officers approached the property, a man dressed in black shorts and a black shirt exited the house. Officers noticed a bulge at his waist resembling a concealed weapon. The suspect quickly entered a white car, reversing out of the driveway in an attempt to flee. Officers revealed their identities and the warrant, attempting to open the locked vehicle.

The suspect then reversed forcefully, colliding with a police vehicle and forcing officers to leap out of the way. In a bid to stop him, police fired at the tyres of the fleeing vehicle, managing to disable all four wheels. Despite the damage, the suspect continued to drive on deflated tyres and evaded capture.

The abandoned vehicle was later discovered within the grounds of a local temple. A search of the car revealed a large haul of illegal drugs, including one kilogram of ketamine, 120.29 grams of crystal methamphetamine , 36,000 methamphetamine pills and 197 blister packs of so-called “date rape” pills, totalling 1,970 tablets. A mobile phone was also recovered.

Authorities subsequently impounded a second white sedan found parked near the suspect’s residence for further examination.

Police later executed the search warrant at the residence, where they questioned 61-year-old Mr. Det, who was present at the property. No further illegal substances were found. Through investigation, police identified the fleeing suspect as 30-year-old Mr. Phai, the son of a prominent local politician in Nonthaburi.

Police are now compiling evidence to seek an arrest warrant from the Nonthaburi Provincial Court. Meanwhile, the investigation into the narcotics cache and its broader network is ongoing.

Firing weapons in a residential area seems too careless for a relatively low-level offense. A stray bullet could catch a neighbor, or (heaven forbid!) a soi dog.

Thai police are on the trail of "Phai," the son of a local politician, after he allegedly rammed his car into officers while fleeing a drug bust. Three serious charges have been filed against him.

On 11th July, updates emerged about the case of 30-year-old Phai. According to police, he fled during a narcotics raid and hit a police officer with his car. Investigators revealed details about the incident from CCTV footage near a local temple.

It showed Phai's damaged white car arriving at 7:05 AM, with a flat tyre. Soon after, he exited the vehicle, appeared to call someone, and then swiftly left the scene.

The footage further captured Phai crossing the road and escaping on a motorcycle towards Ban Klang-Sai Noi.

Police Colonel Natdecha Thanisapatharapong stated they are compiling evidence for Phai's arrest warrant.

The initial charges include possession with intent to distribute

methamphetamine and "ice," possession of controlled substances without permission, and resisting law enforcement.

Despite Phai's political connections, authorities insist they will conduct the investigation impartially, adhering to national police protocols.

Phai has a history of similar offences. In 2024, he faced drug possession charges and escaped while in custody, indicating a pattern of evading law enforcement.
