A crash has claimed the life of a 36-year-old man in Lampang province after he veered his pickup truck off a high bridge and overturned, trapping him inside and killing him. Police from Mae Phrik Station confirmed the fatal crash occurred around 20:00 on 11 July near kilometre marker 584 on the Super Highway, in Ban Mae Chiang Rai Bon, Mae Phrik district. Rescue teams from the Lampang Volunteer Rescue Association and forensic doctors from Mae Phrik Hospital were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, authorities found a white Toyota Champ pickup truck registered in Lopburi lying overturned beneath the bridge, which is approximately 10 metres high. The vehicle was resting on its roof and scattered around the site were numerous mobile phone accessories, including phone cases, screen protectors and SIM cards. Inside the wreckage, the lifeless body of the driver, identified as Mr. Pakin, was discovered pinned beneath the vehicle. Rescue teams worked to extract his body from the mangled remains of the truck. Preliminary reports indicate that Mr. Pakin had been driving from his home to visit his girlfriend in nearby Lamphun province when the crash occurred. Investigators believe he may have lost control of the vehicle before it plunged from the bridge, but are reviewing any available CCTV to confirm no other vehicle was involved. The body was transported to Mae Phrik Hospital for autopsy and authorities notified the deceased’s relatives. Police have launched a full investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
