Police in Huai Khwang have arrested an Iranian man for stealing 100,000 baht from a Malaysian tourist under the pretence of exchanging US dollars.

On 13th July, Police Colonel Prasopchok Aiemphinit of Huai Khwang Police Station revealed details of the incident that occurred on 8th July. At around 9:44 PM, Malaysian tourist Lai Jin Hao was approached by Arash Esmi, a 36-year-old Iranian, outside the Avani Ratchada Hotel.

Pretending to befriend the tourist, Esmi offered to exchange US dollars for Thai banknotes. As Lai was about to show him the money, Esmi grabbed 100,000 baht and fled.

Following the theft, Police Lieutenant Colonel Chanapat Suksawat and his team reviewed CCTV footage, tracking the suspect’s taxi to Si Lom Road.

The suspect was apprehended on 12th July outside a McDonald's branch on Narathiwat Ratchanakarin Road.

During questioning, Esmi confessed and arranged for his relatives to return the stolen money to the victim. He has been taken into custody for legal proceedings.

Colonel Aiemphinit praised his investigative team for their swift action and urged anyone with similar experiences to contact Huai Khwang Police Station at any time.

I suggest; Six months in a tiny large cell with some Thai friends many Malaysian Ladyboys, then deport him with a ten year total ban!

Looks like he wanted to feed that McDonald's addiction and needed cash.

I know this forum likes to bash Nigerians/Africans and Arabs for all the crimes and crap they caused and rightfully so in LOS, but Iranians have been in the news quite a bit.

Looking back at all the crimes Iranians have been involved in the last several years, there over 30 incidents alone that this forum has reported.
