Russia might get one nuke onto London before Russia is reduced to Cinders. One Trident can Obilterate most of Russia's major City's the other Trident would do the cleaning up.

You are hoping the Tridents are operational and that the  missiles can launch and will detonate at the designated target(s).  If rabble  can invade a US military  installation and sabotage  multi million pound aircraft, it is quite probable that the Russians may have already sabotaged the UK's nuclear deterrence inventory.

Firstly i will nip this in Bud. I am not hoping a Trident will Launch Patong before members jump in accusing me of wanting a Nuclear strike. We in the UK  have had a deterent for over 40 yrs and we will continue to have it with Replacements already being constructed. i Helped build Trident platform and once it goes on Patrol no one knows where it is apart from the big chiefs in whitehall they cannot launch, only the Captain on the Submarine and his second have the key to the firing order. So it cannot be Sabtaged only within the Submarine itself.

The Trident missiles have a 30 year life span. Many were built in 1992-1995. They are being refurbished, for an extension of life, not replaced. Technology that is 25 years old is usually obsolete. The UK has not invested in its military for some time, and the remaining 4 ballistic missile submarines it now operates are clunkers . They were built between 1993 and 1999 and are not planned to be replaced until (perhaps) starting in 2030. The Russians can hear these submarines and can track them. They can assign hunter- killer submarines to neutralize the Vanguards. The UK needs new ballistic submarines and more of them, now, not in a decade.
