This kind of nonsense would never have happened at Grace Brothers. Mrs Slocombe would have taken the bra fitting and Mr Humphries would have been confined to menswear...

It is entirely inappropriate for a man to approach a teenage girl in a lingerie department. Being dressed in women’s clothes doesn’t change that. It’s extraordinary that a man would regard himself as entitled to do such a thing; most men know how unwelcome that would be,” she said.

THIS^^

I don't consider these "things" as men or women. Just an escapee from the institution they should be kept in. 🥸

M & S staff inclusion policy. It'll end in tears.

This is, in absolutely no way whatsoever, NOT an apology to this young woman and her mother.  M&S you are disgusting.  They should have said something like "we are very sorry for allowing a man/transgender to work in a lingerie department, leading to this truly disgraceful situation.  It is entirely our fault.  Whilst we cannot undo what happened will make sure it doesn't happen again; not just in this store but in every store around the world.  As an apology, even though it cannot undo what happened, please accept a £500 voucher that will will give to you when you are next able to visit this store.  The Store Manager will make themselves available to you to apologise in person and to hand over the voucher."

"Meanwhile the employee in question can now be found in the cafeteria preparing LGBT sandwiches."

Imagine "her horror" as the daughter "recoiled" at the assistant asking her politely if she needed assistance. 🙂

All this weaponizing of outrage. I see Rowling is now involved calling for a ban on M&S, an esteemed British shop over precious little.

If she was that worried about the assistant just ask for someone else. But then it wouldn't have created a stir, which was clearly the intent.

Straight off to Room 101 for her and her daughter. They don't seem to understand the new way of thinking. O' Brien will see to that.

well hopefully the "new way of thinking" will stop and we will come back to reality that men are men and women are women.

If a man or a women think they are a different gender than what they are are, that's fine, be what you want to be.

I treat everyone the same, I dont care if you're male. female or other or how you are dressed.

The issue is when you want to force everyone to comply with your way of thinking by demanding people use pronouns to describe you and if you dont use the right pronoun they have a total melt down.

I think people forgot that the world can be a cruel and dangerous place and you cant go around thinking that it's going to be a pleasant ride all the time.

I haver big ears, I've been made fun of allot when I was young. That's life, people can be cruel, get over it and move on. You cant stop people

from saying or thinking what they will and force them to think same as you.

I’m pleased I left that country, what a farce. Personally, I wouldn’t care if it was a man or a woman helping me choose a bra, it’s not like they’re seeing me naked ir touching my breasts or Fanny.

I'm guessing you are not a teenage girl.

Really?

And when you were 13 would you have been comfortable with a man measuring you up for your first bra?

Guess many people over here have to hurry up to catch her in this act.

The image caught her in the act — not of comedy, but of revealing the gap between categories. No longer just commenting on an image, but elevating it, transforming nostalgia into testimonyYou Being Served?  was light entertainment — not designed to provoke thought — and yet, through this framing, it accidentally staged a moment of profound visual irony.

Bingo.

The "trauma" from this retail encounter comes across as fake and wildly exaggerated.

It was stated that employee is NOT involved in bra fittings.

I'm trying to relate to this from a male perspective.

I recall being embarrassed going to a sports goods store with my Dad to buy my first jockstrap as required for gym class.

Imagining a trans man approaching me to ask what we were looking for, I seriously doubt we would have made a federal case about it.

The response we expected from both of you.

No need to get your panties ruffled over it.

Accept the fact that not everyone with teenage daughters agrees with your logic.

M and S management should ring Trump to get advice for this problem with their LGHPXYZ++ staff.
