Missing French Jogger Found Dead Near Cambodia’s Angkor Wat

French traveller Lisa Girard was found dead near Angkor Wat after disappearing during a solo 21-kilometre morning jog on August 2. Girard, who hitchhiked from Paris to Cambodia to raise funds for the NGO Pour un Sourire d’Enfant, was last seen near Ta Som Temple before friends reported her missing. Cambodian social media quickly mobilised, with multiple local sightings shared, and drones were requested for the search. Her body was discovered on August 4, though the cause of death and exact location remain undisclosed. The case has raised concerns just as Cambodian officials reaffirmed the country’s safety for tourists.
