Cotswolds Chaos: Locals Revolt Against JD Vance’s Visit

Featured Replies

Typical of the Yanks leaders to ponce around someone else's country playing pretending to be friends and screwing up the locals.  He should have been let it, to hire a EV at LHR and drive himself around, without an fleet of hideous vehicles and an Army Secret Service knob heads.

You bumped into random people and they told you they were:   “very right wing, anti immigration, anti Labour, Pro Reform.”   LOL

And you had the good fortune to happen upon loquacious strangers who just happened to express views identical to those you yourself scatter all over this forum.

His motorcade drove through Charlbury to get to the village of Dean to the north where 'he' had rented a manse for his vacation. It is the residents of Dean whos lives were disrupted through being locked down. History now, he jetted off to Scotland yesterday presumably to play golf on his boss's new course. He will get a shock when POTUS sends him the bill.

I live in Cotswold country (Vale of White Horse) and I think it is likely his pilot flew the plane over here after departing Stanstead airport before cranking north to bonny Scotland.

“Right now, D.C. inquiries are up roughly 400% compared to the same period in 2024,” Crowds on Demand CEO Adam Swart told Fox News Digital, adding that the time period he is referencing is May to July 2024.

The company always sees a spike in requests during what Swart calls “high-stakes political moments.”

Swart said the “vast majority” of people at political or advocacy events in D.C. are in some way paid.

I wonder if they opened a UK branch and contracted out to Ellen and Rosie?

Aww, The USA republicans are not liked in the UK? I wonder why.

Maybe Tariffs can be counterred by boyciotts.

World wide boycott of the USA tariffs, I wonder what the future would be?

I suspect you don't know him, or if you do you don't know him very well. Whatever you think of his views the one thing of which you can be assured is that he is most definitely not a moron. From humble beginnings he earned BA in political science and philosophy from Ohio State, and later a degree in jurisprudence at Yale. Prior to his academic career he served in the US Marine Corps.

🤣🤣🤣 Oh dear me....🙄

Oh dear, indeed.

No mention of the fact that workers at the “Bull” pub/restaurant in Chalbury refused to serve Vance so the manager told Vance handlers to do one. Personally I would have welcomed him and p*ssed in his soup.

As opposed to your anti-Jew , pro-Islam and pro-sexual deviancy advocacy that hardly anyone on the forum shares with you.

Oooh, that's a nice bunch of pre-packed prejudices you've got there!

In June, I  visited a friend who's moved to a quiet village in the Cotswolds and this doesn't surprise me. They have a strong community, with a  co-operatively run village hall and cafe. Where you gave community - something that Reagan and Thatcher started to destroy, their work carried on by their successors - people are less afraid. And when people are less afraid, they can be kind to others.  Which is what some of you call " socialism" or " leftism". It's a shame you have never experienced it.

Yes, under the FPTP system, the Witney constituency voted Tory , but that doesn't mean everyone's right wing.

These were just random people I bumped into while keeping my own opinions to myself. Some of them were so right wing that even I was taken aback. And not one of them was remotely worried about speaking their mind about it. 😃

The feelings are very strong out there and not against the policies of the GOP.

Even the most right wing of places there is still a hard core of leftists. Last year's election ultra right wing Aylesbury, Conservative since 1929 kicked the Tories out. Not even a Liberal Democrat. Won by Labour, admittedly only by a few hundred.
