Rescue workers were startled in the early hours of the morning of 13 August, after responding to a reported mass casualty road crash, involving a pickup truck hitting a barrier near Charoen Charoen Market, Saraphi District, Chiang Mai.

At around 01:20 emergency responders and multiple ambulances, arrived to find a white Mitsubishi pickup, where the driver had lost control and collided with a road barrier at a construction site near a pedestrian crossing. What initially caused alarm at the scene, was the sight of multiple arms and legs seemingly spilling out across the truck’s rear compartment, leading to witnesses fearing a serious multi-casualty incident.

However, it was soon revealed that the bodies and limbs, belonged to clothing store mannequins arranged in the back of the vehicle, not injured passengers. With the driver escaping unharmed, the incident had turned from potential disaster to rather humorous.

The rescue team then helped manage traffic control at the scene to prevent further incident, before the mannequins and pickup were safely removed.
