A mother in Phatthalung has reached breaking point after her son’s ongoing drug abuse left her with no choice but to involve the authorities.

At around 14:00 on 18 August, police officers led by Sergeant Chokdee Areerak, deputy inspector of Mueang Phatthalung Police Station, arrested 35-year-old Mr. Phongsatorn “Bank” after he became violent and disruptive at their rented home in the district.

Officers reported that it took some time to persuade him to open the door. He was found heavily intoxicated but did not resist arrest. A search of his bedroom uncovered two methamphetamine pills hidden under a pillow, which were seized as evidence.

Mrs. Bua, 56, the mother of the suspect, told police that her son has been addicted to drugs for many years. Despite sending him for rehabilitation twice, he returned to heavier drug use each time.

“He often went to work in other provinces or in Bangkok, but would regularly ask me for money. When he came home, he would cause chaos and destroy our belongings,” she said.

Mrs. Bua explained that her son recently demanded 1,000 baht, claiming it was for work clothes. Instead, he purchased methamphetamine, beer and cannabis, consuming them until he became violent. Feeling she had no other option, she called the police to have him taken for treatment once again.

“I work as a daily labourer earning only 300 baht per day. I struggle to make ends meet, yet I am still forced to deal with my son’s addiction. I reported him to the police so that he could receive the help he needs,” she added.

That´s the way to go! Unfortunately he will be released and very angry. Hopefully, ha will not take revenge and hurt his mother as these idiots tend to do.
