Pattani police have arrested a 26-year-old minibus driver for attempting to smuggle 1,440 e-cigarettes intended for distribution in the province.

The suspect, Mr. Ibroheng, who operates a Yala–Su-ngai Kolok route, was stopped on August 20 on Rural Highway 42 at kilometre 143 in Thung Khla Subdistrict, Sai Buri District. Officers noticed suspicious behaviour and conducted a search, discovering eight boxes containing a total of 1,440 e-cigarettes hidden beneath the passenger seating.

During questioning, Mr. Ibroheng admitted he had collected the cargo in Tak Bai District, Narathiwat and planned to deliver it to customers in Yarang District, Pattani, for a payment of 1,600 baht.

He has been charged for possession and transport of goods subject to tax or restricted items without proper documentation. The suspect and the confiscated items were handed over to Sai Buri police for further legal proceedings.
