Bangkok Jolted by 5.4-Magnitude Quake; No Major Damage Recorded

Bangkok experienced a 5.4‑magnitude earthquake on the morning of August 21, centered about 10 km beneath the Andaman Sea, nearly 211 km southwest of Mae Sot. The tremor rattled people in high‑rise buildings across multiple districts, prompting brief evacuations and social media reports of dizziness and swaying lamps. Experts on the Sagaing Fault, however, reassured that the quake was typical and not cause for alarm. Authorities emphasized the importance of readiness and compliance with earthquake safety protocols, although no serious damage was reported.
