A former bank employee wanted for embezzling more than 720,000 baht has been arrested while hiding out in Roi Et province, more than a decade after the alleged crime.

The arrest was carried out on 22 August by officers from the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) Region 4 in cooperation with the Tourist Police Bureau. Police had received intelligence that the suspect, identified only as Ms A, was residing in Muang district, Roi Et.

Investigators confirmed her presence before moving in to detain her under a warrant issued by the Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases, Region 4.

Police said the woman, formerly employed by a well-known bank, is accused of embezzling 724,000 baht in February 2013 by misappropriating funds for personal gain while abusing her position.

Pol Lt Col Natthaphat Sukchuen of the Tourist Police Investigation Division confirmed the suspect admitted her identity as the person named in the warrant, though she declined to give a statement during questioning.

She has been handed over to the PACC office in Khon Kaen for legal proceedings.
