A 48-year-old male trail runner died during a popular race in Lampang after collapsing on a steep mountain path.

The incident occurred at around 18:30, on 22 August, in the Muang Pan District, in the area of Doi Jik Chong. According to reports, the runner vomited three times while ascending the mountain before losing consciousness and sliding down a slope.

Bystanders, race officials and medical personnel immediately attempted to resuscitate him with CPR, while multiple rescue teams navigated the dense forest and steep terrain to reach the scene. Despite their efforts, the runner was pronounced dead at the site.

Mr. Chatrach 38, a runner from Kanchanaburi who witnessed the incident, said that he had been following the victim. “He suddenly stopped running, left his trekking poles, water and other equipment, then sat down before collapsing and sliding about five metres down the slope. We tried CPR and called for help immediately,” he said.

Local rescue teams and on-duty medical staff attempted emergency procedures but were unable to save him. Authorities from Muang Pan Police Station are investigating the cause of death, which is currently suspected to be related to an underlying medical condition.
