A 19-year-old man from Chaiyaphum died after his motorcycle went out of control at a railway crossing and slid under a pickup truck, police report.

The crash occurred around 16:30 on 23 August at a railway crossing in Moo 7, Khlong Preng Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chachoengsao. Rescue workers and doctors from Phutthasothon Hospital were called to the scene.

His motorcycle was found some distance from the scene, along with his mobile phone still displaying a GPS application. Witnesses suggest the teenager may have been unfamiliar with the area and may have been looking down at his phone while riding up the incline at the railway crossing.

The driver of the grey Toyota Hilux pickup, Mr. Ittirit, 57, told police that the motorcycle lost balance while climbing the slope and slid under his vehicle before he could brake in time. A passenger in the pickup helped residents lift the victim from under the truck in an attempt to save him.

Police are investigating the incident and took the driver in for questioning. The body of the victim has been taken to Phutthasothon Hospital and authorities have contacted his family to arrange for funeral rites.
