A 69-year-old man in Chaiyaphum has been arrested after shooting his 34-year-old son following a violent episode at their home in Phu Khiao district, police report.

The incident occurred on 23 August at a residence in Moo 11, Nong Khon Thai Subdistrict. The victim, Mr. Uthai, was found dead with a gunshot wound to the chest. The father, Mr. Pramong, remained at the scene and surrendered to authorities.

During initial questioning, Mr. Pramong admitted to shooting his son. Police said the son had a history of drug and alcohol abuse and had frequently threatened family members and damaged property in the home. On the day of the shooting, the son reportedly entered the house aggressively, damaging belongings and attempting to attack his father with a stick. Fearing for his life, the father fired a single shot from a shotgun, striking his son in the chest.

Police investigated the scene, collecting gunshot residue and other forensic evidence. Mr. Pramong has been charged with murder, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, carrying a firearm in public without cause and discharging a firearm in a residential area. He is currently in custody pending legal proceedings.
