A 13-year-old schoolboy has died after crashing his motorcycle into a car during an illegal street race in Bangkok, while his friends fled the scene, leaving his body in the road.

The collision happened during the early hours 27 August on Kanchanaphisek–Thung Khru Frontage Road in Tha Kham, Bang Khun Thian district. Police, doctors from Siriraj Hospital and rescue volunteers attended the scene.

The victim, a pupil from a well-known school, was found lying face down in a pool of blood, still wearing his school uniform. Nearby, his damaged Honda Wave 125i motorcycle lay overturned on the wet road.

The other vehicle involved, a white Toyota saloon, was parked in the left lane with visible damage to the front bumper. The driver, a 30-year-old woman, waited at the scene in a state of shock.

She told police that the boy had been riding with three or four others, apparently racing in the rain. “I don’t know if he lost control or tried to overtake, but suddenly he swerved into my car,” she said, adding that she was not driving fast at the time.

Eyewitnesses reported that the group had been speeding from a set of traffic lights before the crash. After the collision, the boy’s friends briefly stopped, one saying: “Oh, this shouldn’t have happened,” before riding off and abandoning him.

Police transferred the boy’s body to Siriraj Hospital and contacted his family.

Sad this had to happen. The parents should be charged for allowing the child to drive to school illegally.

Well, charge the parents doesn't bring back her son. They got their "punishment" already.
