The incident occurred when a bus, on route from Sapang Palay to the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX), lost control and crashed into a UV Express, nine other vehicles, and five motorcycles. Witnesses reported that the bus driver, after losing control of the brakes, made a split-second decision to veer into the concrete barriers of the MRT-7 construction site rather than crash further into traffic. This decision likely prevented a more catastrophic outcome. The collision, which took place on Thursday morning, has caused severe traffic congestion in the area, affecting multiple lanes on this major thoroughfare. The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Road Emergency Group swiftly responded, removing the bus and clearing the site to restore traffic flow. Luckily, none of the individuals injured in the accident are reported to be in a serious condition. Those needing further medical attention were transported to nearby hospitals, including East Avenue Medical Center, Rosario Maclang Bautista General Hospital, and Commonwealth Hospital. An investigation is underway by the Land Transportation Office to determine the exact cause of the brake failure and to assess any further responsibility. Meanwhile, the bus driver is being held at the Quezon City Traffic District 5 near Barangay Doña Carmen for further questioning.
