Police in Nonthaburi have intercepted a drug shipment, seizing more than 3.2 million methamphetamine pills believed to be bound for southern Thailand.

The arrest was made at around 13:00 on 29;August, when officers from Bang Bua Thong Police Station stopped a suspicious vehicle on Kanchanaphisek Road. The suspect, identified only as Mr. Ratchasak, 48, from Suphan Buri province, was taken into custody.

Inside his Toyota Sport Rider, officers discovered eight large black plastic packages, each containing 400,000 pills, with a total street value estimated at 60 million baht. Police also confiscated three mobile phones believed to have been used in the operation.

The bust followed an intelligence tip-off earlier the same day, when officers at a checkpoint in Sai Noi were alerted to a planned drug delivery heading south. A pursuit and interception were coordinated by patrol, investigative and pursuit units from Bang Bua Thong Police.

During questioning, Mr. Ratchasak reportedly confessed he had been hired by a woman known only as “Jae Lek” to transport the drugs from Nong Khai province. He claimed it was his first time acting as a courier and that he had been promised 20,000 baht, receiving 5,000 in advance and due to collect the remainder upon delivery. He added that he did not know the identity of the intended recipient in the South.

Police have charged the suspect with possession of a Category 1 narcotic with intent to distribute, an offence carrying severe penalties under the law. Investigators say they are now expanding their inquiry to track down “Jae Lek” and other members of the trafficking network.
