UPDATE: He has reportedly been let go and is said to be in Singapore for two days for a “medical check” before he’d “return”.

he won't be coming back. He gonna wait the result tomorrow and if Anutin PM. Danger is too great for him to come back.

Nobody elected him. Amazing Thailand.

if you mean the people elected him ?? you need to learn the election process in Thailand, the people do not elect or vote for a PM    the MPs in parliament vote for the PM   The people vote for a MP   this is how most elections are carried out     do your research

Yet another PM selected by the politicians rather than the people.

Still, the Shin family are out again, so perhaps that is a good thing.

Most Democratic country's the PM is elected by the MPS     uk, Australia ect  dont know about the yanks

Concur
Surely he wouldn't have got court permission so soon before his verdict on 09 Aug.  If it was like the last time, Thaksin returned 15 years later.

Interesting times ahead or should I say more fun and games.

[Breaking] Former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra has left the country for a medical check-up in Singapore and is expected to return in two days, a source within Pheu Thai confirmed.

Earlier reports said authorities initially blocked his departure from Don Mueang Airport to verify whether the travel ban from his lese-majeste case had been lifted. After review, it was confirmed he is permitted to travel abroad.

He knows he is cooked.

Thaksin’s on the run. He said he’s going to Singapore but his plane has diverted away from the route and looks like the POS is heading towards Dubai.

Probably not true, but in reality it is the best thing Thailand. Let him go and get the Shin influence away from politics. Give the new generation a chance to try their best for the people, instead of money, power and greed.

I just saw a readout of his flight on 'Flightradar' and there could well be credence to him not going to SIN, but somewhere else.  So the plot thickens.. where is Yingluck right now, could that be a clue. Could Paetongtarn be on a commercial flight to 'where' tomorrow.  So suspenseful..haha

UPDATE: It's apparent now that Thaksin's private jet is not heading to Singapore but towards India and as of 9.45pm Bangkok time, his Bombardier Global 7500 (in red) is flying towards the Nicobar Islands and heading towards India.

Even though Anutin seems to be anti-farang, he has said he would look into the tax situation. I would take that chance.

As if you have a chance to take!

Promises fit every lock, but the process misplaces them — every time.

They gonna form a new party and name it to People Forward.

I agree with you. PP ran as a progressive center-left political party and pr0-democracy and anti military platform. This alliance with BJT has shattered that political position. I heard some of their party MPs are not pleased with this alliance and I am sure the decision will also dissappointed many supporters. PTP and others like minded parties will capitalize on this and hit PP on the election campaign trail.

The PM voting has not commenced at this point of posting so anything can still happen. Good to see the business sector has shrugged this off as reflected in +1% rise in SET. Perhaps please that democratic process have been maintain and the military has signal that they will not interfere.

I forget to add that PP members will be banned from standing for elections on some ridiculous trumped up charges in the coming months.

This has happened before. Expect more of the same dirty tricks

I think he may have realised that he is not wanted as much as he thought/hoped.

People's party sounds like Cambodia, North Korea, China and other non democratic countries. Thailand is going full communism, joining all of it's neighbors, including Malaysia
