The governor of Samut Sakhon, Mr. Naris Niramaiwong, personally led a special administrative and police task force in a raid on a local bar in Muang district in the early hours of 3 September, following complaints that the establishment had been operating illegally and may be connected to a shooting incident in mid-August that left three people injured.

Authorities discovered that the bar had been operating without a licence in breach of the 1966 Entertainment Establishments Act, and was serving alcohol outside permitted hours under the Alcohol Control Act of 2008.

As part of the inspection, 47 staff and patrons were subjected to drug tests, with five female service staff testing positive. In addition, four Laotian migrant workers were found employed at the bar, two of whom were working without legal permits. The findings mean both the workers and their employer are liable under the 2017 Foreign Workers Administration Act.

Officials are currently compiling evidence to propose the closure of the establishment. Authorities are also investigating whether the bar has any links to the earlier shooting incident.
