September 5, 2025Sep 5 Authorities in central Myanmar have seized over 120 kilograms of heroin in a major anti-narcotics operation, according to state media reports published Thursday. The bust took place on 25 August in Myittha township, Mandalay region, after police received a tip-off about suspicious activity. Officers from the anti-narcotics division intercepted two cars and a motorcycle believed to be transporting illegal substances. Upon inspection, they discovered 120.12 kilograms of heroin concealed within the vehicles. Several suspects were arrested at the scene and have since been formally charged under Myanmar’s drug laws. Officials have not released further details about the individuals involved or the intended destination of the drugs. The seizure underscores the scale of Myanmar’s ongoing struggle with narcotics trafficking, particularly in regions like Mandalay that serve as key transit routes. Heroin production and distribution remain persistent issues in the country, which forms part of Southeast Asia’s notorious Golden Triangle. Authorities continue to investigate the network behind the shipment, with further arrests possible. The operation is part of a broader crackdown aimed at dismantling drug syndicates and curbing the flow of narcotics across the region. -2025-09-05 ThaiVisa, c'est aussi en français ThaiVisa, it's also in French
